In the letter with my card, it says I need to activate it within 30 days of receiving the letter.
When I logged in to GOES, the "Activate Membership Card" has now been replaced with "Manage Membership". When I click on that, I can see three buttons at the top: "Print", "Replace Card" and "Add Vehicle"...
I can't find the "Activate Membership Card" anywhere, I swear it used to be on the main page right next to my Trusted Traveler info.

Does that mean it is now automatically activated?

You activate the card from the homepage prior to login.

Hi All,

OK - I have read heaps of pages on here but cannot find someone that mentioned my issue. Let's see if anyone can help.

OK - I have NEXUS and the message on GOES says I am able to use GE. I did have my fingerprints taken during my interview and I have had my iris scanned. I have used the NEXUS machines often.

Last week I was in YYC flying to LAX and decided to try the GE machine. It would not read my passport. The screen said 'touch here' if having trouble reading passport so I did and it asked me to type in my passport #. I did and the message that came up said that my passport # is not associated with GE. I have not changed my passport since receiving my NEXUS card.

Any tips? Insights?

I figured I would reply since I did ask this question.

I had a layover 2 weekends ago in Seattle where I was catching the ANA 787 service to Tokyo - yes - a weekend in Tokyo just to fly there and back on the 787 and it was worth it!

Anyway ... I went to the SEA terminal just after 0800 and asked for directions to the NEXUS/Global Entry folks and was pointed in the right direction by a kind airport worker. Upon arrival, there was a US guy standing outside as I was reading the sign and saw that they only open at 0820. He asked if he could help. I said I am here to ask about Global Entry so I will come back at 0830. He said that is just to keep things moving in an orderly fashion and to come on in and he will help. I explained that I received the notice indicating I had Global Entry linked to my NEXUS. He said that yes - the files have to be linked and that he has to manually swipe my passport. I know some of you were able to go automatically but that is what he told me.

He had me sit and chit chat and checked to ensure my fingerprints were already registered and he confirmed they were. He asked if I was heading anywhere and I told him to Tokyo and that it was just to try out a new type of airplane. He laughed and said he is a plane geek too so we chatted about the Boeing factory nearby and other places to see aircraft. Ended up chatting with him a good 45 minutes about airplanes. He had already showed me how to use the kiosk and put a sticker in my passport. He was a really good guy and fun to chat with.

So there's my update. I now can use both NEXUS and Global Entry and it all worked great when returning back from Japan to Seattle. Until I got to Vancouver where NONE of the NEXUS machines were working - but the queue was short - so no worries there.

Cheers!

Hello all this question has probably been asked before but the search function wasn't helpful.

If say I'm driving across from Vancouver to Blaine to pick up a package and I were to also pick up a 6 pack of beer is this alright provided I declare it. I'm fine if I have to pay taxes ect I just don't want a big hassle.

Declare both the beer and the package. You may get waved through or you may be sent in to pay taxes/duty.

I have friends who bring back a bottle of wine every time they do a day trip to Bellingham and get waved through. Of course, YMMV.

Just declare. And before you go, it doesn't hurt to make sure you're allowed. Beer obviously is okay.

Here in Saskatchewan, provincial law only allows us to being in 9.1 litres of alcohol over our exemption - so if I don't have an exemption that day, 9.1 litres is it. That's still a lot if you're bringing in hard liquor but it's only 24 beer, roughly.

You can always stop at the border on the way down and ask one of the Canadian people what is allowed, if you're worried.

Dear G-D, they need to add this for Canadians!

This...APEC Business Card....why are we left behind!

Since tomorrow is Nexus Pre-Check day..does anyone know how this is going to happen.

I have found nothing about how we will be able to register for it

New option for checkin for Air Canada flights in the last 48 hours -- advance flight information -- now gives you the option of a Passport or Nexus.

Of course, I expect this to lead to interminably stupid debates here as to whether you can fly with just Nexus. Whatever. We know the answer. But the change on the AC site is interesting.

What's with the GE sticker? Some get it others don't.

You need to add your PASS ID in the "known traveler field" if you're flying with a participating carrier (UA, AA, DL, US and AS). Only works for itineraries that are wholly domestic US.

Nexus card with a criminal record

You can get a Nexus card/Global Entry with a minor criminal record. Just make sure you disclose the record on the your application.
I just got mine after the interview at YYZ. I had been convicted in Mexico of disorderly conduct and obstruction a number of years ago.
The interview with the US agent was not pleasant but he still approved me. He was pretty stern and asked me how many days I had been in jail, and asked three times if I had other convictions. He also stated that I had to follow US laws, even at Pearson airport (which I don't believe to be true). He also checked that I had disclosed the information on my application, and verified that I had no other convictions.
Just be honest and disclose the truth without going overboard and you can get approval. And yes, I was told that the US has access to records from other countries than Canada.

The entire itinerary? :(

I was hoping that something like SFO-ORD-YYZ would qualify.
