I may do that for my next trans-border to the US, but the schedule really delays my typical jaunt to IAH. It's more difficult on the return flight since the YHZ enrollment centre is only open in the morning.

I'd be quite annoyed if they let a senior away with it but sent back the 18 or 40 year old. The sign doesn't say Nexus and the elderly, it says Nexus. And if you're going to enforce it, then age damn well better not matter. You're 80, not a wizard. /rant

How is that "ad nauseum?"

But no matter, it still makes the point.

Someone learned some interesting new information about the NEXUS program, and you expect them to wade through 5500 posts to see if maybe it had already been talked about? Many might think that upon learning some new information they'd be better off to keep it to themselves.

I asked at my interview. They said it will be "business as usual" on Friday. The CBSA officer added, "especially in Vancouver, since this isn't a holiday for Canada."

FWIW, the officers in Detroit answered at least two phone calls while I was there. Don't know what's going on in Vancouver.

What are the current wait-times for processing apps - I thought 10 days was reasonable, but so far the SO's app is still in pending status. I need to set their expectation correctly - should they expect a decision shortly?

Applied: October 25
Conditional approval: November 12
Interview: November 21 (could have been November 13 but wanted to wait until my wife could go too)

The female CBSA officer was very helpful and smiled a lot. She asked the interview questions. The male CBP officers were competent but rather gruff and didn't smile at all. Maybe they were bored.

She asked if we wanted Global Entry also; of course I said yes. They took care of it, and the CBP officer even put the sticker in our passports (so even though he wasn't particularly friendly, he was helpful). I thought I was going to have to add it myself online and then go to a GE enrollment center to get the sticker, but we're all set! He said we would receive our cards "in 7-10 days".

Thanks to everyone who has shared their experiences and other useful information in this thread (which I actually read in its entirety over many, many hours). It is very nice to know what to expect!

The good news - received approval for the SO today.

The bad news - no appointments at Boeing, Bellingham or Vancouver for literally months (YVR is showing May for appts!). Booked something tentative for Bellingham and hoping we find earlier cancellations at Boeing.

Okay so as for TSA Pre✓...

I'm flying SFO-BOS-YYZ on United. The largest writing on my boarding pass is "INTL". No Pre✓ for me.

So it definitely looks like your entire itinerary needs to be US domestic.

And I'm in boarding group 7. I really need some status.

AC*P status helps immensely on UA, if you're usually an AC flyer. I get more benefit out of it with UA than I do with AC (notwithstanding the odd upgrade I get on AC).

Thanks. Will definitely head in tomorrow, then.

Doesn't matter what's written on the BP what matters is in the bar code. And if a destination on any flight is outside of the US, Pre check does not apply.

Actually asked the TSA staff while coming through CVG in the regulat line yesterday (enroute toYVR) if there were plans to allow it for international or at least Canada travel. She blabbed about get global entry because Nexus members now haven't and completely has no idea what she was talking about.

Won't even work on domestic US segment after arriving on an intl flight.

I'll have 35k next year, which should put me in boarding group 3 on UA. I only use UA for mileage runs (today I was lengthening my trip for a few extra miles) and domestic flights within the US.

I assumed as much, but there were done questions about it in this thread, so I thought I'd share my experience.

I too use UA/US for Mileage runs and I get boarding class 2 on UA as *G. On the UA site under manage my reservation you can add your Nexus number on your profile, but you cant on US.

This past Sunday at MCO I asked if we could use the TSA Pre✓ and they said no as we were flying on AC but he directed us to the priority line which was faster but you still need to take everything off.

Next Thursday I am doing an eight hour Mileage run out of SYR to MCO on US and I may leave the secured area and go back in through the Pre✓ as US is approved along with MCO. Something to do as I will only have my man bag with me!:)

The fact it has to be domestic and on select airlines is silly as what does the airlines has to do with me? any ways baby steps are happening at TSA which is good.

I have had semi-success by just using the Pre-check entrance showing nexus card and ticket.... When the scan doesn't identify you as being pre-check, they just send you to the front of the regular line.... Helpful if the line-ups are huge.

It's nonsense, really, because everyone goes through exactly the same checkpoint.

What's even better is that for my connection in Boston, I had to switch terminals, so go through security again. To be fair, the secruity checkpoint for the Air Canada gates in BOS was empty, and just had a simple metal detector and xray machine, but still... The security in SFO only covered the domestic part of my itinerary. I had to go through security again before boarding the transborder flight. So why do they have that rule?

doublea7 Nov 22, 2012 6:35 pm

Applied 9/9
Conditional approval 9/28
Interviewed/approved 11/22

At the interview I was told I could now use Global Entry as well. I asked if a sticker needed to be put in my passport and the CBP agent said no, he had put me in the system. My passport is only 6 months old so maybe it doesn't need a sticker because it has info already in it is all I could figure.
Has anyone got enrolled in Global Entry without the sticker?
