I have not heard of this before, and I can't say for sure, but if I had to guess, I'd say there's a disconnect somewhere in the system - either the message is appearing in error, and you can't really use it (did you have all 10 fingerprints taken, or just 1 on each side), or something that needed to be done in the US customs backend computer wasn't completed properly. Even though it is seamless to us (or at least, is supposed to be), there is something that needs to be done on the computer by agents in the office to enable GE. I'm sure they automated that for the people eligible, but perhaps something erred when it tried it for your file. Could also be that the passport number they attached in the system is different than yours, etc.
I'd say you need to go into an office and talk to the US customs folks about it - or a GE office in the US. Whatever it is, they should be able to look into your file an correct it. Of course, the other possibility is that the specific machine you used wasn't working, causing the error. Thanks. I'm going to contact them. :) |

http://www.international.gc.ca/media...12/10/26a.aspx I had always remarked how dull our passports looked compared to those of other countries that had artwork on the stamp pages (like the US and Australia) or a neat embossed gold fern (like NZ). So it will be interesting to leaf through this new gallery of Canadian icons. |
My NEXUS interview is tomorrow afternoon. Should I bring my birth certificate? The interview form says I only need my passport but have seen a few people saying they've been asked for a birth certificate.

In my case, they didn't even ask for any documentation.
The "interview" ended up being casual conversations, FAQs, etc. Just fingerprints done at the interview location, and irises done at another location. |

Just curious if anyone knows if the following Nexus Enrollment Center does the Iris scan (as it's in the US):
Seattle UEC, Seattle WA King County International Airport Failing which, can Nexus be applied for without the Iris scan, then stop by a Canadian Nexus office (without appt) to add the Iris scan in the future? The scan is of secondary importance as the card is being used primarily for TT membership (precheck) and land crossings between WA/BC. http://usa.immigrationvisaforms.com/...erview-centers I am going to the same center next month for my interview so I was curious too. Don't know if you need an appt. elsewhere. |

Yes, you can complete the interview at a location without iris scan, then go to a center with one - no appt. needed - to have it done. |
Wanted to share this completely anecdotal story here:
Was heading out of YYC to the US on Oct 26 and was in the customs line at 0645. It was long and slow and I was reminding myself to get around to signing up for Nexus. I kept noticing the Nexus line was backing up with 5 - 6 people in it and the customs officer kept disappearing with people in tow. I didn't really pay too much attention. I get up to the US agent and he greets me with a laugh and said "good day to not be in the Nexus line hey?" and I was kind of stunned and said yeah it is backing up. He then said "the reason why is that every so often the Nexus computer goes crazy and starts handing out secondaries to every person" and then right as he says that another person goes off to secondary. He said that their quota of secondaries is filled before 9 on "days like that". He then said it was funny as people got ticked that they spent $50 and routinely get the secondary selection. Wished me a good flight and that was that. I was thinking about getting Nexus but was this just a random occurance or have others noticed a higher than normal secondary selection from the computers? |

Can any information be changed online?
I need to change: Address, phone number, TN status, employer So far I have successfully been able to change my "mailing address" (but not "current address"), but nothing else. I know I have to go in for the TN status, but can nothing else be done online? Or am I just blind, and not seeing a big "edit" button somewhere? |

You should take whatever documents you indicated in your application. If you did not do so, then there should be no need.
Timeline for my Nexus Application: Applied: October 3th Conditional Approval: October 17 Inverview/Approval: October 29 Card expected in 1-2 weeks. |
All,
I got a TN last week. I went to the GE office @ JFK and asked to have it added to my profile. No problem I was told. This is what I now see. It seems to be under "passport" (the second one) The expiry date it correct. Did they do it properly or was it botched? (the Bold "passport" and "TN" were just added by me for the screen capture) http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/9692/90500829.jpg |

Alternatively, one should stop at any enrollment centre at an airport.

The screen said 'touch here' if having trouble reading passport so I did and it asked me to type in my passport #. I did and the message that came up said that my passport # is not associated with GE. I have not changed my passport since receiving my NEXUS card. Any tips? Insights? Turns out I had the fingerprints and iris scan but one's passport has to be scanned as well in order to qualify. That had not happened yet (new passport from when I first received my NEXUS and the details were registered but it had not been scanned.) Once he did that, he said I was good to go with GE. BTW: my NEXUS expires in September next year and the officer said to allow 9 - 12 weeks for the renewal process but my dh has waited 10 weeks for this appointment (and despite having a NEXUS office at our airport, this was the first available interview within a reasonable drive.) The next available interview at our airport was in January, after his NEXUS would expire so we figure it is best to start the renewal 5 - 6 months before expiration. They did say that there was talk of making renewal all online and no need for an interview. Which makes sense since it only took 15 minutes for my dh's renewal and that included adding our new car to the records. |
