All ... I am getting a TN (applying for) next week. I am told by my lawyers that I need to update my profile ASAP afterwards. (assuming I get the TN).

Can I go to a Global Entry office (JFK) to do this or does it need to be a Nexus office? After being in the US, I am going to another nation and then back to the US, so not coming back to Canada right away.

Thanks for any input

YMMV, but at YYC in 2008 and 2009 the US CBP officer interviewing me for the TN visa would photocopy my TN visa stamp and I-94 card an place them in the pile to be forwarded to the YYC Nexus office. For my part I simply mentioned my Nexus card and enquired about next steps. If your courteous and the agent is in a good mood, perhaps there is a similar unofficial process at your TN visa processing center.

In any event, your TN officer will be able to tell you the procedure specific to your home airport.

I won't repeat what I said in the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/air-c...us-tn-1-a.html thread, but do take extra care to stay on top of the dates of all required documentation.

Oops, following is outdated!! Was able to book one for my son on Wednesday also! Initial acceptance received in late August, and this is the first successful change we've been able to make from our original September date!

I'm sure the answer is no, especially based on the information on the Nexus Page... but... has anybody booked 2 interviews (father and son), was able to get an earlier date for one person, and brought their child and was able to perform both interviews at the same time? I'm sure the answer is no, but hoping there may have been one person able to pull it off and make it worth keeping my son out of school...

It is quite likely that they will interview you both in the same slot, especially since your companion is a child.

Apologies if this was ever covered upthread, but I would like to question the applicability of the following rule:

7. Paragraph 6(f) says that, during the three-year period preceding the day on which the application was received, an applicant to the NEXUS program must have resided in Canada or the United States, or—if the person is a citizen of Canada or the United States serving at a Canadian or American diplomatic mission or consular post in a foreign country—in that foreign country.
My SO just received their green card and lived in the US as a H1B holder for 5 years. Does their residency as a H1B holder count towards the 3 year requirement for Nexus, or do they need to hold their green card for 3 years before applying?

I am not sure if it was posted here but @ YVR earlier this month, I was able to use Global ENtry though only a Nexus member. The US Customs and Immigration official told me it is included for free for Nexus. Just need a passport and fingerprints, answer a few questions and you are off and running.

The residency requirement is no longer in effect. They amended the rules this summer.

This has been the case for over a year. The early adopters of Nexus without fingerprints on file had to submit a set of prints however most folks who joined in the program for the past few years had already had their prints taken are already enrolled in GE.

Thanks, but this appears to apply only to citizen applicants, not permanent residents.

The residency requirement was lifted for US and Canadian citizens - that press release does not mention permanent residents.

My bad, I just assumed your SO is a Canadian citizen. I think for PRs, the requirements are still the same as before.

Welcome to the site, Dawn!

I can't give you a 100% certain answer, but I suspect you may be okay. Out of curiosity, you must have applied online through GOES? What did you put for your passport information? Was it under your maiden name?

You may want to phone the NEXUS enrolment center and explain the situation. I'm sure it's come up before.

Normally I would say it's not worth renewing your passport simply because of a name change, but from what I understand your passport isn't useful for the last 6 months anyway, so really you don't have too much time left on it. Might be worth renewing anyway. Just a thought!

Hi again,

Well, applied September 8th
Conditional Approval Sept 20th
Interview booked December 24th.

I think I'll send away for a new passport this week just to be safe. 2 months should be plenty of time to get it done. I couldn't do it earlier as I just flew to Hawaii 2 weeks ago, and tickets were booked in my maiden name.
No trips planned right now, other than driving across the border, so I'll send away for my married name passport. If it's taking long, I'll just rebook my interview appointment. :-)
Better safe than sorry!

It was funny, I did my sons application at the same time, and we were both approved at the same time, but I couldn't remember his password for GOES to book the appointment, so had to look at it the next morning... By then, the next available interview was February 18th, (from the initial Dec 24th like mine) Today I managed to re-book him to December 26th!

I have the same question.... wife's interview is on Sunday, but my son's isn't until mid-January. I'd love to have them done at the same time, but there just aren't any interviews available that same day. Do they ever allow a child to interview with a parent without an appointment? I was thinking of calling the day prior and begging for them to do this. It would save us much hassle.
