I'm okay with June (vs a long schlep to Gananoque), but that might help wayner92.

I dont know the current wait times at YYZ but prev posts suggest at least 3 months. Try Niagara Falls on the US side right in front of the Nexus bridge. Then after your interviews drive across to the Cdn side to add iris scan. I did my family about a year back and get a interview in less than a month for 4 slots. Fo an individual it was even faster.

I'm already GE. Applied for NEXUS on MAR 28. Conditionally Approved MAY 1.

In my last 5 times through YYZ, with GOES, it has not recognized my passport, so I've had to manually enter the details. Anyone else going through the same thing?

You mean GE? I used it last week outbound from YYZ and inbound from PUJ to PHI and was fine.

Need some information on NEXUS enrollment at Whirlpool Bridge.

I already have GE. Planning on flying into YYZ, and driving to the Niagara Falls enrollment center.

Will GE card allow me to use Whirlpool Bridge from Canada to US? I understand toll (paid via NEXUS card) is collected from US to Canada.

There have been reports of the US interview providing a pass to cross to the Canadian side for the iris scan. I assume that is to cross Whirlpool Bridge without NEXUS. Do I need to drive back across or is walking across allowed?

How is parking on both sides of the bridge?

Thanks.

I'm looking at the calendar now. The entire week at the end of August is available at YYZ.

Things can change in an instant. I've been looking at the calendar for the past two hours and see appointments pop up and disappear within 5 minutes.

YVR currently is end of Sept. But for about 3 minutes, an appt popped up for MAY 20. It's now gone.
Same thing for YUL. Saw a MAY 20 popped up for a couple of minutes and it's gone.

Previous posters weren't kidding when they said check every 10-15 minutes.

Updated - Just saw two appt pop up for YYZ MAY 4.

Unless one of our tribe knows more than what I've personally experienced, you need a NEXUS card to operate the gate-arm to get onto the bridge US-bound. Ditto for coming back, plus you need to have money loaded onto the NEXUS card to operate the barrier (that is done right beside the bridge).

If you don't have a NEXUS card you'll have to cross at the Rainbow Bridge and come back north to the office beside the Whirlpool Bridge.

Parking is okay at both US and Canadian offices.

Yah, I meant GE. Passport failed every time in the last five trips. It has an option to manually enter info which I do and all is good. But it's quite annoying.

No, you need the NEXUS card both directions.

Whirlpool bridge is vehicle only...no pedestrians. I had no problem parking on either side - seemed more than adequate. FWIW, I did my interview there, and then did my iris scans on the Canadian side right after the interview. The US side gave me a control number to read into the speaker box at the Whirlpool bridge gate, and they let me cross and park at the Canadian side to do the scans.

Thanks. I'll be driving from YYZ to the Niagara enrollment around noon on a Wednesday and will have my GE card.

Sounds like Whirlpool is out even with the GE card.

Looks like NEXUS lanes closed on Lewiston and Rainbow Bridges at that time. Peace Bridge seems out of the way. Are the ReadyLanes open on the first two bridges?

Which bridge should I make the crossing?

Any road/bridge tolls from YYZ to Niagara enrollment center?

The NEXUS Information Thread

I just called Whirlpool Bridge at the number listed.

http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/contacts/ports/ny/0901.xml

They said the GE RFID card can be used to cross Whirlpool into the US.

Yes, but I believe you have to load credits on the card which you do online or on the US side. There is no other way to pay the toll and the bridge arm will not open without enough credits. Thats how it was explained to me at the Nexus interview.

Should not be traffic at that time. Whirlpool should be quick. call the border bridge number at 1800 715 6722 about half hour before you reach Niagara Falls and you will know the wait times on each of the three bridges. peace Bridge is too far from the Nexus office so Lewiston or Whirlpool are your options.
Not on the way there but on the way back. If they give you a control number you can use the Nexus bridge free. Otherwise $3. Also if you use the 407 highway, that is a expensive toll highway.

Only if you take the 407, which I would personally do, but there are other routes available.

I believe there is a bridge toll when crossing US->Canada in Niagara.
