Lansdowne will be much further West. If there are US staff at all locations though, I may just see what's available for Montreal airport and perhaps do that if the timing works instead of Champlain which is slightly out of the way. Thx.

Possible bonus: YUL will be able to do the iris scan for the entering-Canada NEXUS kiosks (still useful even as the US preclearance facilities move to all fingerprint-scanning Global Entry units). I don't know if Champlain does, but the US-side offices generally seem not to; Detroit didn't, so I got my scan done a few months later at YYZ w/o an appointment. |

However, I believe if you interview at some centers, you may not get some of the scans done (either iris or fingerprints) if they don't have the equipment and may need to visit another center to finish that portion of the process, although with Canada moving towards just using the GE machines, maybe they've changed that now. But you can do those second scans at any office without an appointment.

I think Canada will keep iris since they state how much more secure it is than fingerprints (260 capture points vs 60 for fingerprints).

Just to clarify, my understanding is that the NEXUS machines will only be replaced by GE ones in the US Immigration areas - entry into Canada will still be NEXUS machines only.
The agents told me and were joking about getting NEW NEXUS machines that hopefully work/faster :P guess we aren't the only ones complaining |

(though HK, Singapore, South Korea use fingerprints for echannel/eIACS/SES respectively.) |
I just filled out my NEXUS application on GOES, and now need to fill one out for my wife and kids. Do I need to create separate accounts for each? Tried calling CBP, but keep getting a busy signal. Thx!
Ne'er mind - found the FAQ and yes a unique account is required for each. |
Yes each person needs a separate application/account. Even infants. But the cost is free under age 18.
|
Thanks flyquiet -- just found the answer in the FAQ on the GOES site as well.

FYI mpond, when you get to scheduling interviews, it's hard to find interviews together, but as long as you get all the appointment slots on the same day, the officers will see all of you consecutively. All in all, seems more efficient to apply as a group and get it over with all at once.

Same experience as flyquiet - my wife had her interview with our baby's being a week later. We asked if he could be processed at the same time, and as there was no retina/fingerprint scan, they were happy to help. |
I applied for my Nexus card in March and it took 3.5 weeks to get a conditional approval and when I went to check for an appointments Toronto, Montreal Vancouver had no appointments available at all, other cities had appointments 4-6 months out however Halifax was wide open. I received my conditional approval on a Thursday and was able to get an appointment Monday morning in Halifax. Used miles to fly up.
Halifax seems to be wide open for appointments and they officers were very pleasant. I also have GE so that might have helped speed things up. I should have gone for Nexus first but I had lots of international travel before and received my GE card in 2 weeks. |
On May 8 I arrived at YYZ T1 on AC early morning around 8am.
Surprisingly all Nexus kiosks are broken and I had to line up for almost 45 mins to clear immigration and customs :( All CBSA officers refused to cooperate with nexus card holders and did not give us any priority in the line up. |

Where you should have gone was straight to the crew line - Nexus cardholders are allowed to use this when the kiosks aren't functioning. |
