I'm interested to see your progress as I am also in Seattle. Submitted app 3/9/14 and paid the app fee. I wonder what the wait is for app approval and walk-in odds of getting an interview.
The missus has been vetted by the feds a while back as she works for a freight forwarder. Doesn't appear to have helped her as we are both in the same state of pending review. |

Hey everyone! What does a Canadian get if they get into the Nexus program in terms of global entry. I read online they don't get into that program per-say, but receive benefits? What does that mean?
That tells me that in the eyes of the Department of Homeland Security, maybe I *am* actually in all three programs. I know I certainly have the privileges to use GE and SENTRI lanes. |

To be clear, "you'll get Pre✓" is a bit of an overstatement. Eligible to get it, yes. More likely to get it more often then, then say, FFers who don't have GE or the pay to play program, yes. But it is not guaranteed for anyone on every trip. And there is randomness built in. So just don't expect it every time.
As has been discussed to death in other threads, Pre✓ isn't always its cracked up to be - If speed is your goal sometimes the non-Pre✓ lines are faster. If however your goal is to keep your shoes on and your laptop in your bag, and to pass through a metal detector instead of a nude-o-scope well it's convenient in that regard. |
The NEXUS Information Thread
So I just discovered a few weeks ago that I've been a Polish citizen since birth and didn't realize it. I'm in the process of confirming citizenship with the Polish authorities.
I was born in the US, I've been a US citizen all my life, and up to now I've never had reason to believe I possessed dual citizenship. Obviously I told the lovely NEXUS folks I had just the one citizenship. For various reasons I've decided not to go forward with getting my Polish passport at this time. I'll be getting my Polish birth certificate and ID number and that's it. Do I need to inform CBP that I'm a dual citizen with just the one passport? |

The wait for interviews varies by location and I don't know what the Seattle wait time is. You can also improve on your first appointment time by repeatedly checking the website for cancellations. Walk in for passport number changes, sure. For iris scans when not done in the first place. For address changes. Maybe even renewals? But walk-in for a first interview? Don't get your hopes up. |
Statistical tidbit for my Application -
Applied through GOES: Feb. 6, 2014 Conditional Approval: March 11, 2014 Interview (Vancouver Urban): March 12, 2014 |
Timeline datapoint:
Submitted/fees paid: 10 Feb 2014 Conditionally approved: 12 March 2014 :D |
Hubby applied 2/10.
Conditionally approved today, 3/12 Interview Canada Place on 3/15 Seattle is scheduling into mid September, but Vancouver is a good Saturday day trip :) Bummer we wont have the actual card in hand for the border crossing home (I got mine last month). |
When flying, do we need to be in possession of our NEXUS cards?
I know for the US you don't need to have the card to use GE. But say I lose my card abroad while travelling and return to Canada. Would using the NEXUS kiosk to clear CBSA be a violation of the program? (e.g. only if they decide to give me a secondary check, they would know) |
I'm seeing a trend here. Applied 2/9 Conditionally approved today.
Took a mid September appt. just for the heck of it in Seattle (first available) Wifey was approved today as well. We'll head up to Vancouver and make a weekend of it sometime in April. |
I'm going to be applying for a J-1 visa at YYZ (Toronto) pre-clearance on my way to SFO (San Francisco). Since there's no NEXUS enrolment center anywhere close to SFO, is there a way to update my NEXUS with my J-1 status at YYZ after pre-clearance?
If not, and I don't use NEXUS when I return, will still have to inform NEXUS of this change even though my J-1 will expire upon my arrival back in Canada? |

Two questions:
If your connecting YOW-YYZ-MCO or YOW-YUL-MCO, are you able to use the GE kiosks at the connecting airport? When returning to Canada, if two members of the same household are using the Nexus kiosk, do we need to fill out 1 or 2 customs forms? Thanks! |
