As a computer idiot I'm looking for a little help on how folks are able to check the available interview times via a program.
Finally have the ability to get an interview but the next appointments in Seattle are in September and late June for Blaine. Thanks in advance for any tips on how to snag an earlier appointment. |
Brute force for non programmers.
I stay logged in, and refreshed the site every few minutes until an appointment came up. Rinse and repeat |

They do get taken up fairly quickly, but in my case I was able to swap appointments with my wife by cancelling one, logging in to the other account, and grabbing it again. Because you're not a computer guy this may be above your level, but here is a link to the Python script people have been using (I personally haven't used it). https://github.com/mike200015/goes-interview-checker While it's probably harmless, some websites (Canada Revenue) for example explicitly states not to use web scrapers. Given how jumpy the NEXUS folks are, I wouldn't even bother. |

As others said, just check regularly.

I did use the Python script, thank god, and was able to grab interviews quicker than brute force
In general, there's good cancellation rate within a week at YYZ. Probably best at 2~3 days out even, especially weekdays, or Buffalo/Fort Erie centres (too far from GTA though) BUT.... they do disappear very quickly, especially Good ones (Weekend interviews) are gone in 5-10 minutes (I couldn't believe it) Anyway, got my infant's NEXUS today (about a week after approval that was forgotten), woo hoo |
Well done Jerry! ^
So far taking an office day today has helped immensely. Two Seattle appointments early April so far. Very pleased. |
Quick story: I got frustrated with the long lead times in GOES so took my chances as a walk-in. Walked in to the centre in YOW. I had all my paperwork with me. There wasn't a line (place was empty) so I asked if they'd take me. They did!
I couldn't figure out how to cancel my appointment (was 5 months later in YUL) so I let it go. No issues. Been up and running for months now. I got lucky...but suggests there is value is just trying to walk in. If they're empty (unlikely at a place like YYZ or YUL) and the officers are in a good mood - could work out. |

On the Nexus website, it talks about eligibility requirements. Who exactly are these "certain permanent residents"? I assume they are referring to PR's holding a passport from a certain list of countries? If so, what countries qualify for the 3 year residency exemption?
Quote from NEXUS website: In addition, certain permanent residents are also exempted from the three-year residency requirement. However, permanent residents who do not fall within an exempted group are reminded that the three-year residency requirement still applies Can somebody please explain. |

If I were to guess, I would assume its PRs that are married to a citizen who are exempted. She re-applied in Dec 2013 and got approved, so I "wasted" $50, oh well I suggest someone call NEXUS office to clarify the exemptions and let us know here :) |

Hey all...
Lost my NEXUS card today when out and about. Anything special I need to do to get it replaced? Should I be worried I lost it? |

Lost my NEXUS card today when out and about. Anything special I need to do to get it replaced? Should I be worried I lost it? I've never lost mine, so can't speak from personal experience. However, on the GOES site, there is a "replace card" link - you'll need to login, click on manage membership, and its one of the buttons on the top. Not sure exactly what happens next, but I seem to remember others who have said that they needed to be re-interviewed before they could get a replacement. I'm sure its back in this forum somewhere. Not sure if that's for everyone or just sometimes. On that note, I would check again to make absolutely sure its gone before you report it. My guess is that once you report it, your existing card will be de-activated and not be able to be used again or re-activated, even if you find it later. While going into Canada, there's no alternate for trusted travelers without a physical Nexus card, I'd think that your GE membership would still be valid when traveling by air into the US (and for me, that's where most of the value is - Canadian customs lines are generally fairly short unless arriving at YYZ behind the Emirates 380 - on the other hand, I've saved tens, potentially even hundreds, of hours at YYZ US pre-clearance alone). |
