Yikes - sorry to hear that.
I've never lost mine, so can't speak from personal experience. However, on the GOES site, there is a "replace card" link - you'll need to login, click on manage membership, and its one of the buttons on the top. Not sure exactly what happens next, but I seem to remember others who have said that they needed to be re-interviewed before they could get a replacement. I'm sure its back in this forum somewhere. Not sure if that's for everyone or just sometimes. On that note, I would check again to make absolutely sure its gone before you report it. My guess is that once you report it, your existing card will be de-activated and not be able to be used again or re-activated, even if you find it later. While going into Canada, there's no alternate for trusted travelers without a physical Nexus card, I'd think that your GE membership would still be valid when traveling by air into the US (and for me, that's where most of the value is - Canadian customs lines are generally fairly short unless arriving at YYZ behind the Emirates 380 - on the other hand, I've saved tens, potentially even hundreds, of hours at YYZ US pre-clearance alone). I checked and double checked...the thing's gone. :( Shouldn't affect my Global Entry, but I love using my NEXUS card as ID instead of my Driver's License. |
Have been flying mostly out of SEA but have a 0600 departure on a Thursday YVR IAH. Has the Nexus lane at YVR been open for scanning the BP or do you have to wait in the regular line? I know once your BP is scanned there is then the Nexus lane, Just trying to gage how early I must be at YVR.

It's government issued photo ID. I use it everywhere.

Which PR's qualify for 3 year residency exemption?

My wife fits that criteria but got rejected in Dec 2012 (2.5 years since landing, but 3+ years since first came to live in Canada). I hate how it's confusing term "3 years" vs. Citizenship clearly stated "1095 days in Canada"
She re-applied in Dec 2013 and got approved, so I "wasted" $50, oh well I suggest someone call NEXUS office to clarify the exemptions and let us know here :) I did phone NEXUS. Their response: "That's a great question. But I don't know. You should check the NEXUS website." Well DUH.... that's my complaint... NOTHING on the website explains this. I've sent an email to CBSA (since I don't see any email for NEXUS), but I'm sure that will result in the same useless answer. If I get an actual explanation, I'll post it here. I assume asking at the NEXUS airport office would also be a waste of time. |
Just a brainwave: I have no direct knowledge of this particular group, but extrapolating from other governmental entities with which I have been acquainted, the people at the NEXUS office are operations. I would think like most government departments, they have a branch that develops policy. This is separate from Operations. Some even have a "policy hotline" where you can call for interpretations. You'd need to reach the government department that is responsible for NEXUS, whatever they are calling themselves at the moment, and ask for the Policy branch, which hopefully they have, and then ask them.

Ummm, I posted the answer to your Q already. |
I am a US citizen and have been Nexus for 4 years. I'm pulling a NAFTA Professional work permit for Canada. I was wondering whether I need to update my records or whether the CBSA's noting that on my profile will automatically take care of that.

I don't know why the system doesn't automatically update, but that's government bureaucracy for you. |
Just cleared security with Nexus@YYZ transborder using the new TSA-pre type rules (shoes on, liquids / laptop in bag). They were directing other (non-Nexus) PAX to this line! If they're relaxing restrictions in this line, doesn't it then become a security issue?

It wasn't a month ago, but that was in the afternoon.
I'm 6:30 YVR DEN on Tuesday. I'll post back and let you know. Nexus security scan line was open. Once scanned, security procedures identical to giant main line (shoes off, laptop out), but you're moved into a much shorter queue. Note that the Air Canada *G Maple Leaf Lounge doesn't open until 0600 so not an option for these early UA flights. |
