I applied online on Dec30th and received conditional approval (pending interview) notification/status on Jan13th - about 2 weeks!

How long did it take from completing your on-line application and receiving the 'pending review' status to the 'conditionally approved' status?

Thanks!

This thread should be rolled into the Nexus Information thread.

I'd fill out the electronicform using the GOES Web site rather then mailing it in. Some have reported conditional acceptances, and been invited to schedule interviews, within two weeks of submitting electronically.

Interview is pretty simple, they'll check your ID, maybe ask a couple of questions, capture your iris' and fingerprints (US will get this) and then explain how it all works.

They will take your picture with a low quality web cam. Smile pretty, my picture looks like cr*p. The new cards use a b&w pic, makes it look even worse!

I did mine on the GOES website, but the $50 Fee turns into $65 if you submit on-line because it's charged in US$.

You will also get a Nexus loot bag!

Okay, it's time I joined NEXUS. I'm about to send out my form... what can I expect at the interview?

A bored person asking you a few questions.

Don't get the questions wrong and you'll be fine.

WOW!!
I am really impressed! I applied for the NEXUS online on Monday, and I got an e-mail today saying I was conditionally approved and I needed to make my apointment with an officer. I could have my NEXUS card within 2 weeks of applying.

my interview was very informal.

the cdn agents do the intial intake, verify documents(passport, drivers license).

all the utility bills, etc that i brought were never asked for by the CBP agent on the US side.

he was exauhsted and asked me the formalities but during my wait the agent beside him had interviewed 2 different applicants and they got GRILLED pretty badly..

its all a matter of who/when & where

Expect to go through the process twice-- once for Canada, once for U.S.

Expect them to ask you a lot of questions that they already have the answers to.

I have sat through four interviews now. Mne, my wifes and my two daughters. Questions asked were the same as you fill out on the form. Asked if you have been violated any border crossing rules etc...

None of use were "grilled".

In fact I would say I get grilled more coming back through Canadian Customs when not using Nexus, than at the Nexus interview.

Has anyone else not received their new card? We've received 2 of 3, both sent registered and both signed for on our behalf. There was no sign of the third one at the (another) registered address, where there's no one to sign. But there was also no expired "come get your registered mail" card so I'm hoping they're processing alphabetically by last name or something.

And I agree, the card is ugly, has no official look to it, and it almost impossible to read. At least the 2 I've seen were, perhaps the 3rd will be better. ;)

Yep - still waiting for mine.

emcampbe Jan 21, 2009 8:50 am

I haven't recieved mine either. I'm in the US, and I don't think any of us US-based members on this board have reproted getting them yet.

If you look back through this thread, I think you'll find that there doesn't seem to be much of a rhyme or reason to how the new cards or being sent out. My sister, in Canada, got hers just before new years, but both of my parents, at the same address and same last name, and having had a membership for about a year and a half longer than my sister, still didn't recieve theirs. I don't have mine here in Ohio. And there is a long reported lag between the printing date of the card, and date they were recieved.

I stopped worrying about it by now - what's the point. They'll send it when they send it - and my existing card is still valid, so as long as I can still use Nexus as per normal, not a big deal to me.

Haven't received mine either and I did the on-line update as soon as I got the letter in the fall...........I do know other people who have received them.

The website says to contact them if you haven't received it by March 1.

I've noticed that Calgary/YYC's Nexus scheduling is finally up - but nothing seems to be available until April. Does anyone here know if the 3 month waittime is the norm? I seem to be able to find availability in other centres even within the same week...
