In the same "boat"

Any update on this? I am also on a cruise terminating in Vancouver after visiting US ports. I have to call Nexus this afternoon about something else and will ask about the cruise terminal protocols. We regularly use the crew lines (our daughter is too young for iris scans), so it would be great (OK- better than great) to be able to bypass the regular lines at the cruise terminal too. I'll post the answer that I get today.

Another lesson; sign back in regularly. I snagged an interview two weeks ahead. Things get cancelled, and so new slots open up.

I just called the 1-800 number they have up on the nexus.gc.ca website, and the lady that answered the phone said they do not care about employer updates as long as your license, passport(s), visas, address are up to date.

So what's the deal with employment information? When I had up visa details updated at the Fort Erie office, I forgot to mention the change in employers. The officer updating my details also did not ask, although the employer is on the visa itself. Is it something we have to keep Nexus informed of?

Not at Vancouver cruise terminal

Talked to NEXUS today. You can't use it at cruiseports yet. No machines and they won't let you use the crew line. Too bad. The "boat" symbol for marine travel only refers to those who are docking a private boat and they get clearance over the phone.

Hi All,

I received my Nexus card yesterday and it's asking me to activate it on GOES. I can't see ANYWHERE on Goes as to where to actually activate it. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Try the very front page in the bottom right! ;)

You don't log in to do this.

You would think I could just follow directions :)

Thanks!

Spring Break Insanity at YUL

Though I was able to avoid the immigration line thanks to the Nexus machines, the gatekeepers just before the duty free at YUL were not letting anyone by as the customs hall was packed. So I had to wait forty minutes to get through to the hall to use Nexus. Security afterwards was also jammed, but that line moved quickly. I asked a security guard to see if I could queue jump, he went and talked to the gatekeepers, and they said no, it would anger the others in line. Missed my flight. Normally on Saturday mornings I'm in the lounge less than 10 minutes after exiting the taxi.

Lesson learned.

HUH? I thought that is what Nexus is if the point of entry has Nexus set-up!?!? They were worried about angering others that do NOT have Nexus?

Re-read what he said. He said he got through the immigration line just fine, but had issues with customs.

NEXUS allows you to fast-track through immigration, but not customs.

Just had an odd experience at YYZ T1 US Customs...I went through the Nexus machines without a problem but the US Customs folks that normally just take the receipt stopped me and asked for my Nexus card. I gave it to him and asked if there has been a change because no one has ever asked for it before and then he proceed to demand my passport me, question me about my trip, stamp my passport and lecture me that my Nexus card is like a blockbuster card (in that you need to have it, which ironically isn't actually true any photo id will work). Anyway, not a huge deal but added a few minutes and just struck me as odd. Perhaps he is one of the agent that doesn't like Nexus too much. I thought the lecture was very odd especially considering I had my card.

When I went through last week, there were notices posted on each kiosk saying you need to present the card at the podium.

Um. No you should re-read the post. Duty free at YUL is before entry into the CBP area. The Nexus machines are located in the CPB area. The poster meant that there was a long line to get into the area and was told he was not able to skip the line to get to the Nexus machine. This is ridiculous and the result of "security" person not having a clue what they were doing. If I was the poster I would have walked right by them to the front of the line. The fact that cattle are lined up out the door should not effect nexus card holders.

No he was right, you're misreading my post. In fact, there is no customs line at YUL, the immigration officer also handles customs clearance. The problem was with the doc checking airport staff, who don't let you into duty free, customs hall without a bp and your blue customs form filled in. Saturday, they were doing crowd control as well. Once I got past them, after about forty minutes in line, I was able to fly through immigration/customs thanks to Nexus, but then had to wait in security line of course. All in all, not a good travel day. It cost me about 6 hours, and because I have *gold, I was able to get on a flight denying someone else, who may well have had a connection, from getting on the plane. (I felt bad, but wasn't taking the $100 vdb compensation on offer after being at the airport for 8 hours already...)

I'm surprised they didn't let you in. I've had that happen at T3 and when I flash my nexus card, They let me right in.
