Finally got my card today! I had previously emailed DHS via the GOES contact and they had suggested that if I had not received it by the end of this month to go to a NEXUS office to enquire about whether it was sent/lost in the mail. New card looks much nicer, incl the RFID pouch, though still wish I could change my fugly pic!

I just got my card too today. By REGULAR mail. The wife got hers via Registered Mail. What's up with that?
|
Finally received my new card on Friday, but it was sent by regular first class mail too and not registered or Xpresspost. Guess there have been budget cuts since the new regime came in, less extravagance than under the Bushites!

Mine came as well. It came from the Buffalo office. The card was dated Dec, but I just got it.. I guess they were holding onto them all..

My better half applied a week ago, got answer in 1 week and has appointment in Calgary for next week so doesn't seem to be any big hold up in Calgary now^

Finally tired of long lines and will be applying for a card.
I'm in a unique space - self employed Canadian as a sole proprietor, under the same company name for 18 years. I travel to the US on a Business 0-1, Person of Extraordinary Ability, sponsored by my US agent. I presume I'd list my Canadian company name on the application, and that I would be putting my current 0-1 visa and 1797 notice with me to the interview...? |
Just did the online activation but was rather surprised by the lack of any real security. Thought one would at least have to access one's GOES account.

Just got my card today. Kind of funny, they didn't use my NEXUS picture, but rather the one taken for Global Entry usage. And my face is distorted because the hologram is right over it.

The nice thing about already having the visa is that it automatically answers the question, "why do you need to cross the border so much that you need NEXUS?" Just had my interview a few days ago, and it was basically just confirming information that I'd supplied on the application. I'm now approved, and anxiously waiting for my card in the mail! |

Just a heads up for those wanting to update info on their Nexus account, e.g. passport. These need to be done at a Nexus office, not over the phone. You might also want to check what the procedure is there.
In Calgary, they have a "no appointment needed" session every day from 8-8:30 AM! Otherwise you need an appointment. This seems to be a bit onerous considering it took them a whole day to return my phone message. They will handle giving the info to US agent, however, the supervisor only updates the files at the END of the day so if you are planning on using it the day of your travel (a reasonable assumption in some cases), then you are out of luck (however, the CBSA agent was helpful in saying to try using the iris scanner going through US clearance and if it hiccuped to keep going forward and explain the situation to the US agent (supervisor not updating files until end of day) . . . Seems every location is different. Might be helpful if others can highlight their experiences current procedure where they are located . . . Sure would be nice to be able to update online! |
