I just used GOES to activate my card.
It was a seamless event.

In Toronto - no new card yet ...

I'm in Toronto and have not yet received the new card ... anyone else in the Toronto area in the same situation?

I think a lot are. As of late last week, most of the cards I was seeing were the older versions.

I've talked to a particularily friendly Canadian Customs agent about this in YYZ - it seems all the cards are issued by the US. I guess then only the Americans need to buy the new machines. With these new cards I guess it will take longer to get your inital card, since the old one could be printed off right in the Nexus office I wonder if you`ll get some kind of paper slip (like when replacing your driver's license) until the actual card arrives.

I had my interview last week. I will have to wait for it to arrive in the mail which I was told would take 10-12 days. I was not given anything to use in the meantime.

Staggered Mailings

My new card has yet to arrive, but my Daughter's arrived last thursday, My wife and my other daughter's on Monday.

Funny though that the cards themselves say they were printed on Nov 4. Two months to send them out? Weird.

Did they say you can use the kiosks in the meantime?

in toronto... no card yet

my son (who is 11 months) got his new nexus card last week. He has nexus since he is 2 months old. I have not gotten my new card yet....

I had only use it for arrival/departure at YYZ, but last month I drove to Detroit and the one thing I was surprised about Nexus is that I was able to use it by crossing into the US with a Rental car (I called before going into the border just in case). I also have a Sentri card to cross from Mexico to the US, but you can't use a rental car with it. You must have a vehicle registered to your Sentri account in order to do that (the vehicle is inspected before it is approved for Sentri crossing).... or ride with another Sentri driver that has his car registered onto his Sentri account.

Can't get any better than having a Nexus card.

I got secondary check about 3 times with Nexus (I've never had a secondary before I had the card), but the 3 times, the officers take your ticket and let you pass... not sure why they do that.... I am glad that they are doing random checks, since many people abuse the system, but the checks should be done properly.

Could it be that they were just wanting to verify that you indeed had your passport and Nexus card with you? Did they ask to see them, or just waive you on.

No, they were quite clear that I can't use the kiosks unless I have my card with me.

Just waive at me.... weird. I always travel with Nexus, passport and sentri.... In Mexico only the Passport is what they want to see.... While crossing at a Sentri point, they recommend that your Sentri card be accompanied with a passport or work-visa that allows you to legally remain in the US for the duration of the trip.

can you contrast the diff between a Nexus and a Sentri pass?

PS I'm beginning to think my GOES issues are related to my network since I can hit the page from my BlackBerry just fine

Thought that's what they would say. Thanks for the reply.
