She did ask for our Nexus cards and said they don't always scan correctly, and hadn't this time even though the board had said 2 cards were scanned.

That was returning to Canada? All times I have used it the counter indicating the number of successful scans was only installed when entering the US; the Canadian facilities didn't have it.

Went to Seattle office today. Was told that I MUST do interview again for a renewal. Officer pulled me up in their system to confirm that my DL info had been updated.
Couldn't exactly HUACA when I was in the office. And since there are only 1-2 officers in there, the odds are good that the same person will answer the phone if I were to call. So I guess I get to OCD refresh the website until a better appointment time opens up. Any chance they just sent me the wrong conditional approval form letter, and I'll get auto-approved for the renewal? |
When I drive across the border using the Nexus lane with my wife I always roll down the back window so the agent can see there is no one else in the car - it seems to help getting waived through quickly (Detroit/Windsor).

Odd question about NEXUS:
I'm taking my father with me to Canada next month and I have NEXUS but he doesn't. We're flying into YTZ. We live at separate addresses and fill out separate declaration cards. Can I use the NEXUS/GE kiosk and send him to the regular lanes? Or should I go to the regular lanes with him? Thanks :) |

Does anyone know how you'd declare cigars while using the tdc? Would you just fill out the tdc for everything else and then verbally declare the cigars?
Also what happens if you buy things that were made in more than one country. Would you need to fill out more than one tdc? |
Hi Everyone
Went for my NEXUS interview on May 7 at Ft. Erie/Buffalo centre. Appointment time 12:30pm. FYI I'm Canadian. Very busy office so I now see why I was on an 8 week waiting list for a weekend interview. First interview: Canadian Border Guard. He had 1 question. Why do you want the NEXUS card? My answer: I plan on doing more travelling in the future and it will help me move faster across the US/Canada border. Then he explained the program. Back to waiting room. Next US fingerprint and Cdn Iris scan. Given passport and DL back in pouch and need to go to other office for US interview. Hand them in at desk. Called in from waiting room for US interview. Questions: Why do you want the NEXUS card? Same answer as above. Have you ever been arrested anywhere in the world? Have you ever been denied access to the US? Have you ever had any goods seized at the US border when entering? I honestly can answer No to all these questions. Then she begins to explain the program and Global Entry benefits that come with NEXUS. Then another question Will you be driving across the border? Yes, sometimes since I live in Toronto. No passport needed. Only need passport at airports. Nice to know. Out of the office at 1:05pm 35min. total. Back in Toronto, check my email 4:00pm. Status change from GOES website email. Status: Approved. Very efficient process and looking forward to using my NEXUS card in June. |

Memo I have on restricted/prohibited goods...the usual... also Cuban goods are not permitted in NEXUS lanes. If cigars are not Cuban, you are good. Declare Everything.

UPDATE:
I renewed my Canadian passport whilst outside of Canada / US. My GOES account does not give me the chance to change my passport online I was able to both use Global Entry into the US, and Nexus into Canada without any issue. I then changed my passport at the Nexus office with no problem. |
