No, it takes a few days. Or so the SFO folks told Mrs. SFO last year during her interview.

Back in May 2012 when I finished my interview at Fort Erie, ONT I received an email about an hour later from CBP confirming the change of my status to APPROVED and my eligibility to use GE immediately.

So when I came back to Chicago the next day I used the GE kiosk at YYZ T3 and everything went well. The nexus card came later in the mail.

No. You are interviewed every time you make an appointment. This includes instances where cards are lost.

On a side note, I find this to be one of the most useless threads on FT. I'm not sure how many people would agree, but this thread is just a mish-mash of different users' experiences. I would hardly consider any of the tidbits provided "information." What would be nice is if the thread featured an FAQ at the beginning. There are several FAQs in the last 400+ pages of this thread. Consolidating those questions to the first post might actually make this an information thread instead of a discussion thread.

Just saying.

With respect, uxb, renewals MAY not require an interview, per the joint announcement by CBSA and CBP in May 2012, and discussed on page 289. It wasn't hard to find with a search of the thread.

I agree with you that a header with FAQ would be helpful and might reduce repetition, but there is no assurance people wouldn't just ask anyway. People come here for reassurance and commiseration as much as information and they often want to know what the experience was like for a variety of people, not just what the experience is supposed to be like according to the administrators of the program. With 500,000 views and a relatively lively posting rate and low level of inflammatory discussion, I think the thread is doing something for the people who choose to follow it. My 2c.

nexus

I was wondering, are people who have nexus only memberships still eligible to participate in the ge reciprocal agreements with other countries, such as Australia, Korea, Israel, etc?

I consider being asked to appear somewhere an interview. What the CBSA/CBP do during that interview is up to them. In this instance, the Canadian side asked me nothing. The US side remarked about how I was the only member of my family with a NEXUS card.

We recently got access to Australia's SmartGate. Before that, we had access to Netherland's Privium. I'm hoping that we eventually gain access to other e-Borders.

Great! I'm happy to see you've volunteered to write the FAQ! When can you start?

Ok so we can use GE and Nexus once we are approved even if we don't have the card yet right ?
This is pretty cool actually. I was going to ask if we can pay a fee to receive the card faster but since we can use the service right away after approval no need to rush for the card. ^
Quick question though, if an officer ask for the card ?

As you know, some time freed up recently w/ the closure of another thread. I can prolly get to work on something the end of this month. Input from my friends to the North is also appreciated and welcomed.

Seriously, if you do want to put a FAQ together, the community would be grateful. Check with the AC mods and see if they're OK with putting your FAQ in the new wiki functionality that has just been enabled on FT. (It's still in testing, so only mods and ambassadors can currently edit it for the time being.)

After the interview is complete you can use Global Entry right away, but do NOT use NEXUS until you have received the card.

I know you were being snarky, but this thread is really useless w/o the customary FAQ. Discussion is fine and everything, but I have asked several questions in the past and have never received an answer. FAQ might free up the thread, so that other queries can be addressed. Also, I have flagged my post because I feel that this thread belongs in Travel Security since NEXUS is a programme that spans across multiple airlines and is not exclusive to AC.

My first post was snarky, but my second was genuine. Apologies for the initial snarkiness, but please remember that when FAQs and summaries and things are missing, it's because no volunteer has stepped up to craft the content. There are no paid staff hanging around FlyerTalk who can take on the task (what few paid staff exist are here in a strictly technical administrative capacity--they're the guys with red handles usually starting with "IB"). That means that if you want it done, you've gotta do it yourself!

A good example of a user-created FAQ that is now a wikipost can be found here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...ipost-faq.html -- a user posted this in some post that got buried in the middle of the thread. I noticed it and flagged it for the mods, who then copied it to a now-super-useful wikipost. You can do the same here! :)

Are you sure about that? I looked that up and could find nothing about NEXUS/GE membership allowing one to use Privium at Schiphol, unless one registers and interviews for Privium and pays the annual fee.
