All the Nexus terminals are coming out of US entry at Pearson T1. There were only 2 machines today. There was a helpful CBP agent -- actually, with a pleasant disposition -- and after we did Nexus, asked if we were set up for GE (Global Entry). I indicated I was and has used it before when Nexus was down. My wife and son were not. So he checked the passports, Nexus card, and saw there were fingerprints on file ... so he gave them a CBP sticker.

I mentioned I didn't have a sticker, but have used GE, which caused him to chuckle. He checked mine in any event, and I too now have a sticker.

He seemed to infer the two remaining Nexus were coming out and that GE would be on the only option.

Of course, all this pleasantness was soon destroyed, as my wife had VIR (random immigration); my son and I went with her to secondary, where the typical anal agent with attitude did his macho thing.

10 minutes of waiting, called up by a nice guy, perfunctory questions, a quick peek in my bag, and off we went.

In any event, if you don't have GE, you might want to check to make sure you do!

I am not sure what logic you are applying.

I live in Vancouver, BC and every piece of mail received has been from the Blaine,WA Nexus office.

I live in Saskatchewan, was interviewed at Fort Erie, ON, and got my NEXUS card in the mail from Vermont. :)

Thanks for the info

How long you had to wait to receive your card ?

Here's my timeline:
Applied: 11 Jan
Conditional approval: 3 March
Interview: 9 March at YYZ
Citizenship: Canadian

After interview i was told a supervisor will decide the application, as i was once refused entry in 2007 ( i had declared it on application), also i used to register under now defunct NSEERS which the officer was really concerned about, which i believe is the real reason. Has anybody who registered under NSEERS ever applied?

So I just had an interesting experience at the Highgate Springs crossing coming back in to Canada today. Lane 1 & 2 were open with the green light above them, and the electronic sign said "NEXUS Lane 5", but the light was red. There was a gate which was down, and appeared to be no one in the booth. Waiting impatiently in the regular lines instead, cursing that NEXUS was supposed to be open 24/7 for entry in to Canada.

Anyway, when we got up to the booth, I handed her our NEXUS cards and the officer asked us the usual questions and then asked if we crossed here often. She said NEXUS is open 24 hours a day, but if lane 6 is closed for trucks they turn the red light on but it's still actually open. Even if no one is in the booth there is a box under the window with a button and someone in the building will talk to you and either clear you to proceed or I guess go to secondary.

I know I've read on here before that sometimes the officer in the far booth will talk to you from the passenger side, but this one was completely new to me so I thought I'd pass along the information in case anyone else is in a similar situation!

Yeah t's confusing there... NEXUS is right next to the truck lane and there's never any agent in the booth: just the little "Intercom" box dating from many years ago which would really need to be fixed...

It doesn't even appear to be a surveillance camera for the agent to see who he/she is speaking to. They ask for the License plate number, number of persons in the car and if you have anything to declare and most of the times your are waived through without anything more. You should definitely try the "NEXUS experience" there at least once, the feeling of security at the border is definitely not there...

I personally don't like the St-Armand crossing at all because I find we are always under much more scrutiny and the agents look more scared of something happening and are less "friendly" compared to the Lacolle crossing on I87/A15.

Where on the application did you declare a refused entry? I have been refused entry twice (both in the 1990s) but saw no place on the application to make that declaration; and the US CBP officer didn't ask me about it during the interview.

It was one of the declarations in the application. If memory serves, it was right after the residence & employment info part and in the same section as the "have you ever been accused of committing a crime" and "have you ever received a pardon" questions. I guess your case could be an example of the classic no harm, no foul!

Being refused entry is not the same as accused of committing a crime. I was refused entry when Eagle Badge Man decided to overrule my employment visa in the system and send me back home (at 3am 150km from home in my 9 year old car) because I did not have the physical letter. (The Eagle Badge Man at Pearson had said to my face the visa was in the system but I could not receive it at Pearson because I was not crossing the border there. He directed me to drive to the border and receive it there.) I had to re-enter Canada and explain to my own border officer why I had been deported from the USA.

I looked for where I could report this in the NEXUS application but I was not accused of any crime, just being deemed inadmissible at that moment for not having a satisfactory employment visa and ineligible for visitor due to having disclosed an intent to take a job. Since any errors in completing the form are to be corrected at the interview, I was all prepared to disclose this in the interview, but they did not ask me anything where it would have been apropos.

No problem receiving the card.

i never said it was; I simply said the question about being refused entry was in the same section as the other declarations. I filled out my renewal last week and enrolled my wife the previous day. In both cases, the "have you been denied entry to the US" question came up.

From what i remenber they also ask you if you had any problems with immigration or customs.
I guess it's not a problem to become a nexus member

Just renewed nexus (needed interview and got one within 3 days) and the Pacific Highway (truck) crossing now has an iris scanner so no need to go to YVR.

I understand -- just trying to be reassuring, and commiserate with those like us who legitimately are trying to do the right thing. I didn't see anything about denied entry and I was looking for it. Gosh, I hope I didn't miss it and inadvertently misrepresent!

Doing our renewals for family. All three of us require interviews. The only thing that changed is our son has grown, so that data changed.

First appointment for YEG is July 23, 2013, with anopther option in YYC for September 1, 2013. Submitted Renewals February 28, Received notice of conditional approval March 11, 2013

Will obviously check for earlier dates.......

I wonder if this has to do with that budget thing....
