Question for the Canadian concerning the Nexus card. After calling goes hotline today i got the confirmation that my nexus card has been sent !
Can you guys tell me what kind of letter it is ? like priority letter with signature or regular letter ?

Thanks in advance.^

Mine came in regular mail I believe. You have to login to validate so that deals with the security thing.

It comes in the regular mail, but the card doesn't work until you log in, and activate the card via your GOES account.

IIRC, you don't log in - you have to activate the card from the GOES home page, on the bottom right. I tried logging into to do it when I renewed last year, and couldn't for the life of me figure out how to do it. Then I realized its on the regular home page and isn't available if you are logged in.

Sorry for being unclear. WikiHNL and emcampbe are saying what I meant. There is no need for signature on delivery because the card cannot be used by anyone other than the intended recipient. You need to login to activate it. And emcampbe's post rings a bell for me too: that it's not INSIDE your GOES login but a separate link on the pre-login page.

Just used my NEXUS walking back into the US at the San Ysidro border crossing. I walked past all the people in the estimated 3-4 hour line up, went to the SENTRI gate and the agents there let me proceed through the expedited SENTRI line. There were 3 agents there and they looked at the card, and one said, "Yeah it's ok, that's like the Canadian version of SENTRI" When I got to the agent at the desk he swiped my Nexus asked if I had anything to declare, and off I went.

thx guys for the answers. I guess it won't happen for me before wednesday if it's coming on regular mail :( I will try it on my next trip.

Quick question concerning dual citizenship with nexus. i know that you can only put 1 passport connected to nexus and global entry but here's my question.
Leaving London to Canada i usually use my European passport to leave europe and for the airlines and give the Canadian passport once i arrive in Canada.
Can i use nexus when i arrive in Canada doing that or should i just use the Canadian passport even with the airlines since that's the one connected to nexus and GE membeship ?
I'm asking that question because i remember watching a video where once you use Nexus or GE it's asking to confirm your itinery and airlines booking, i might be wrong though

Is is just my bad luck, or are the NEXUS machines giant pieces of crap that hardly ever function properly? Always use GE going into the US, never a problem. Haven't had a NEXUS machine function properly coming back to Canada on at least the last 5 tries. It's an embarassment.

The last time, at Billy Bishop/YTZ, I had a CBSA agent berate me for writing "nil" instead of "$0" in the amount box on the customs card ("It asks for an amount of CANADIAN DOLLARS, didn't they teach you how to fill these out in your NEXUS interview?"), as well as for not filling in the "country" box for residence with "Canada" (oh, sorry, "Toronto, Ontario" was not specific enough?). I got NEXUS so I wouldn't have to interact with those fools. Argh.

Rant over. Thanks for indulging.

When did you have your interview? For me, it took only 1 week for the card to arrive.

Are you sure you can only have one passport connected? I'm almost positive you can have more. My wife certainly has her Canadian and US passport info stored with them.

If I'm not mistaken it's only GE that confirms your flight details, which you wouldn't be using in this case.

When you arrive in Canada, you are just playing hokey pokey with the iris machine, no passport involved (unless invited for further screening). Since you are arriving in Canada, the itinerary is moot - it's over.

The passport is used to start the GE process and that machine does ask your itinerary as you are heading TO the US.

I only have one passport but they were clear in the interview that they wanted to know about any and all passports I have or have ever had. I am not sure whether that means they want to put a lid on the usage of anything but the primary one, or what. That would be a good thing to ask in the interview: under what circumstances if any may I continue to use my other passport(s).

Ok so it was a GE machine that was asking for the flight number etc and not nexus.
Your wife is US and Cnd so they can add both since it's the 2 countries for the joint program. The other i have is from France so they just told me to only use the Canadian.
I had my interview 1 week ago but after calling GOES i got the confirmation that my card was sent just yesterday. I highly doubt i will get it today or tomorrow on regular mail except if it's sent from an office close by. This is why i was asking on a previous post what office was in charge for sending cards and apparently it's not only Vermont.

I did bring the other passport at the interview and i even added all the infos on my Goes application when the system was asking about the citizenships so i added both with the documents as a proof.
At the interview i gave both of my passports and the Cdn and US agents told me to just use the Canadian passport when i travel and use Nexus and GE.
I think it was easier for them to do it that way.

As others have said, all NEXUS machines have been removed from the YYZ F-gate connections hall, and 2 of the 3 GE machines were out of order this afternoon.

And apparently they shut down the NEXUS security line and the one adjacent to it at YYZ because they were expecting the Toronto Raptors "soon". NEXUS is getting as many "enhancements" as Altitude...

I saw the jetz plane landing as I was driving along Renforth towards Carlingview at that time, so they were at least telling the truth and the Raptors were inbound . . .

You can (and should) have both passports connected to your account. It's for the GE machines that supposedly accept only one. And if you are dual US-Canadian (like me), since GE is only entering US, you should only be using the US one as you are not supposed to enter the US with a foreign passport if you are a citizen. I'm unclear if that's law or guideline. Interesting question, but I certainly wouldn't be the one to try it out.
