It's a new application.
Edit: just got an email saying the status of my application changed. Checked the site and it said to schedule an interview. Earliest in Edmonton and Calgary are August and September :( |
Approved today! applied in early March. Looks like I'll have to drive down to Niagara Falls or Fort Erie for interview since I don't live near the border, and wait for YYZ is too long.

When did you apply? I applied March 15th (still waiting naturally), and was hoping to get it before I travel in September... based out of YYC.

I've heard conflicting reports on this.
My wife has Nexus/GE, is on a H1-B and multi-entry I-94. Was told by CBP and by the US side at the Nexus office that as long she was leaving the US/Canada for less than 30 days, she was ok to use the same multiple entry I-94. Immigration lawyer, however, said, yes, CBP, from their perspective is probably ok with that, but that it might be problematic for USCIS. So I'm still not completely sure. FYI...my wife comes back into the states now on GE, and gets a new I-94 every time, but still has the old, multi-entry I-94 in her passport. |

Applied March 11 and also still "Pending Review" status. Had hoped to schedule an interview while in Vancouver in early June, but that is seeming near impossible at this point; may have to wait until I'm traveling through Seattle, I guess. Is there a deadline during which the interview must be completed? I'd been led to believe from another thread that conditional approval turn around time would be 10 days or so...I wish I'd applied earlier!

Record easy NEXUS entry at Fort Erie
Things are getting better all the time. Going home to Canada at Fort Erie. No waiting on bridge. Enter Nexus lane.
1. Place NEXUS cards by reader 2. Drive to booth and stop 3. Agent says "You're okay. Go ahead" 4. Go to toll booth, using E-Z pass. |
I've noticed that when I scan my iris in the machine it takes longer than others to recognize.
I've done a walkup test with someone else and mine always seems to be slower :D Doesn't fail to recognize, just slower. Anyone know if can I go into an office to re-scan? |
Is iris scanning mandatory?
I've tried searching this thread, but I can't find an answer to this question.
I'm going on my first air trip to Canada with Nexus. I've gone by land, and it's been great. I also have Global Entry. The trip is Seattle-Toronto-Tel Aviv and vice versa. I have a 2:15 connection in Toronto, and an overnight in Toronto on the way back. I'm not a frequent air traveller to Canada. I remember being advised that on the first occasion that I fly to Canada, I should ask to have my iris scanned. My questions are as follows: 1. Can I still have Nexus benefits (i.e. no hassles, expedited security) without the iris scan? 2. If I need the iris scan, is something I can do rather expeditiously? Or do I have to leave the secure area, find an office in a distant location, etc? On a slightly related note, how onerous is Air Canada's additional security for Toronto to Tel Aviv flights? I know what to expect in Israel, but don't know what to expect in Canada. In the US, it's usually a wanding or walk-through metal detector, x-rays or explosive detection swabs. Is it any better or worse at YYZ? Thank you for letting me know. |

No appointment Needed. |
2 of 3 renewals from March 11th have been approved today.
I can confirm from a call with CBSA that renewal interviews are no longer requried... They have already implemented the new policy announced on May 8th! |
Thanks to this forum, and one good phone call, my long weekend is going to be a lot more pleasant.
I am renewing NEXUS. Three weeks ago I got the green light to schedule an interview. I live in Toronto. The next available appointment at Pearson was in August so I decided I'd bite the bullet and drive to Fort Erie on Sunday. I never cross by car so am not familiar with the location but figured nothing could possibly go wrong. :p Then yesterday I saw the discussion on this thread about no interview required for renewals. I figured I might be too late for that but decided to check. I called the Fort Erie Enrollment Center number and just got the recording. I called the CBSA number for the Ontario region and got connected to the nicest, most helpful civil servant I've ever talked to. Contrary to what some have said on this thread (and I realize this guy may be wrong), interviews are being waived for renewals in some cases but not all. Depends on the circumstances. So the bad news for me was I should play it safe and do the interview. More important was the even worse news, his helpfully telling me that on this sunny long weekend at Fort Erie I might be stuck behind a long line of people trying to cross the border, when I would just be trying to get to my appointment on this side. I don't even want to imagine the stress and frustration. I don't plan to travel to the US for another few weeks, and if necessary I could probably duck out of work to drive to Fort Erie on a weekday, so I decided to reschedule my appointment online. Just for fun I put Pearson as my preferred location and to my complete surprise and elation, there were two appointments available tomorrow afternoon. Obviously someone cancelled. Yay. Lessons learned/confirmed: 1. This forum is great. 2. You just never know. Call and ask. |

Application 3/11 Conditional approval 5/17 (about 9.5 weeks) As anticipated, interviews in Vancouver are unavailable when I'm going to be there. In others' experiences, does interview availability change? Is there any way to get on a waitlist? I am debating renting a car and driving down to Blaine while in Vancouver vs. delaying my interview until the next time I'm in YVR or SEA with enough advanced notice. Is there a deadline to complete my interview that anyone knows of? Last question: Do I need to bring anything to the interview other than a copy of the conditional approval letter and my passport? I listed my passport for both proof of US citizenship and admissibility. I just don't want to have any problems... Thanks! |
