I went to the Nexus office at YVR to update all the info on my account a few months ago (passport, DL, address, phone, etc) and didn't seem to have any problems. Used my card fine coming back in at YYZ 6 weeks ago, then got chewed out at the YYZ preclearance a week later for having an expired passport on the account. I told the officer I had updated it at YVR, he demanded to know whether I did it with a Canadian or US officer. He basically accused me of lying when I said I was pretty sure it was just a "civilian" worker at the desk. Let me through though. Just used my card again coming into YUL today, again no issues.
So I guess my info got updated on the Canadian systems, but not the American systems? I've been locked out of my GOES account due to trying to guess my password too many times, I'll try and get that worked out soon and see what's listed there. By the way, is there a list of the common Nexus reciept codes? It occurs to me that both my Canadian recipets since updating my passport could have been flagged, because neither time did the guy at the door really look at them. Today it was R 1-0-8. |

... Is there a deadline to complete my interview that anyone knows of? ... Do I need to bring anything to the interview other than a copy of the conditional approval letter and my passport? I listed my passport for both proof of US citizenship and admissibility. I just don't want to have any problems.. Re deadline, I don't think so. My NEXUS and CANPASS expired because I didn't move fast enough. I only applied for renewal two months before the expiry date. <grumble> All that meant is that I couldn't use them since the expiry date (which wasn't a problem, fortunately). At my interview today the US guy said that I cannot use NEXUS until I get my replacement card in the mail, which will probably be within two weeks (also not a problem, fortunately, but good to know). Re documents to bring, I would have proof of residency (e.g., utility bill). I got asked for that by the US guy. Good luck! |

Canada bound, no. The R means Resident (as opposed to V for visitor) and the numbers after are random. Each day the one of the numbers means secondary, and the agents are all told what it is. So for instance, today 8 as the last number could mean referral and the agent at the exit just looks for an 8. Same thing happens in the regular lanes, the agent writes R/V then some 2 digit number. |

I always update in person and on GOES - since GOES is a US system, it will update them. I've logged in before in the past, and after updating in person noticed it didn't update their, do have always since done both - that way, I know I'm covered. |

I am debating renting a car and driving down to Blaine while in Vancouver vs. delaying my interview until the next time I'm in YVR or SEA with enough advanced notice.
Is there a deadline to complete my interview that anyone knows of? |

Yes, based on a friend's experience this weekend, one must request change with both a Canadian and American agent if holding GS. I only did my passport change with a Canadian agent and forgot to mention my GS account. The GOES system won't permit passport or DL changes online. Mentioned this to him, which is why he asked to also see a US agent. This is rather annoying and quite stupid. In fact, why is the change not automatic when one gets a new passport. Of course, there is no reference on the passport form to having NEXUS or GE, so those records are separate. The system should be integrated, but I suppose it's those stupid privacy laws that keep various government data bases separated. Don't think I will risk using my GE at EWR next weekend, though I have brought both my new and old passports on the trip. I could use the old one on the GE kiosk, but when going through the exit lane the agent will notice that passport has been cancelled...hassle, hassle. |

If one gets a NEXUS card, are they automatically enrolled into the GE program?
If one is enrolled into the GE program, does one automatically get a NEXUS card. I ask, because of this statement from the US government web site on the single trusted traveler program. What are the benefits of NEXUS that GE members have, without having NEXUS membership - assuming one is traveling only between Canada and USA? In July 2011, U.S. Customs and Border Protection introduced the Single Trusted Traveler Program Application for SENTRI, NEXUS and Global Entry. U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Canadian citizen, Canadian landed immigrant, or Mexican citizen applicants can now complete one application and receive access to all modes of travel into the United States. *In order to use to the NEXUS vehicle lanes into Canada or use the Canadian pre-clearance kiosks, you must be a NEXUS member. Please visit www.nexus.gov for more information on the NEXUS program. **Applicants who apply to NEXUS after they have been approved for Global Entry or SENTRI must pay an additional $50 Canadian application and vetting fee. Welcome to GOES - the Official U.S. Government Web Site The Global Online Enrollment System allows registered users to enter their own applications for U.S. Customs |

No, they must apply to NEXUS Separately and be interviewed by CBSA I ask, because of this statement from the US government web site on the single trusted traveler program. None other than the fact they can now use NEXUS lanes entering the US only by Land. |

No. You can get a GE card which will let you use the NEXUS lanes *into* the US, but not NEXUS lanes into Canada nor NEXUS at Canadian airports with US arrivals or with US preclearance. (Most Canadian airports with US preclearance also have GE machines, but not all do yet.) |

I am confused about your statement re: GE only entry into USA from Canada. Are you stating that if there are GE machines at Canadian airports with US preclearance (my 4 airports I use for US entry are YOW, YYZ, YUL, and YVR), could one access the "Nexus" lanes (to "enter" the US) with GE access, or not?

Got my conditional today! Next available appointment at my local airport is 9/14. I'll check for cancelled appointments once or twice a day I guess.

These are the 4 airports I mentioned, plus YYC and YHZ. link: http://usa.immigrationvisaforms.com/...ating-airports |
