Which begs the question: we've been vetted by the DHS, FBI, RCMP, maybe the CIA, and perhaps even the GRP (Guantanamo Research Group.) The small-minded folks who actually work for DHS continues to be a source of fascination.

You must really have had nothing in your bag. :D

Not sure what the setup is at YEG, but at YYZ nexus is kinda off to the side (and generally beside empty/unoccupied booths)..nothing would really be stopping you from getting your receipt and quickly handing it off to joe inadmissible...

Of course, theoretically they've already decided you're not the type to do this when you got approved.

I'm sure the clearance areas are blanketed with CCTV cameras. Maybe they don't trust whoever is monitoring them to actually catch funny business.

Denied Nexus..what do I do ???

Does anyone know how I go about appealing a denial of a Nexus card after my interview. Is this at all possible? Have a minor record of assault 25 years ago in Canada, submitted Canadian pardon. But even with the assault I never needed a US waiver to get into the USA, I have a letter from INS stating that I never need a waiver. Anyone know my chances of getting a Nexus approval on appeal. Thanks to all.

Exactly.

You have more faith in a couple of computerised background checks than I do.

The cameras are also to monitor people who may sneak through as well as theft allegations, lost property, assault claims, etc. Of course, the intimidation factor is a big thing too.

Interview at Niagara Falls Whirlpool Bridge

Just to double check...even though I have initial interview scheduled at NF NY Whirlpool bridge, it looks like I have to cross at Rainbow or Lewiston according to the website. That's a little inconvenient to say the least.

And I believe the IRIS scan is done on Canadian side after interview? What about fingerprints?

NEXUS at domestic security question

If there is a line for NEXUS holders for domestic flights, are you required to have the card with you?

Yes. It's how you prove you have nexus in those lines (I.e. there are no machines).

I understand nexus is more of a domestic, arriving back in Canada thing.

We travel to the us maybe 3-4x a year as a family, Should i have applied for global entry as well?

You misunderstand.

Nexus = back and forth across the US border.

Global Entry - comes automatically when you have Nexus. It's for when you enter the USA from a third country (such as the UK.)

You automatically become global entry when you have Nexus, or at least I did. I don't think you understand Nexus quite correctly though; it's very much a going to the US thing as well. In fact that's why I have it. The delays crossing the border to the US (from Ontario) can be obnoxious at times. I rarely find returning home as busy.

Not just from a third country. Many Canadian airports with US service don't have pre-clearance (e.g. YXE, YQR, YYT). GlobalEntry is very useful for those of us who fly out of or through such airports.

If you are arriving from another country, say the UK, and there are NEXUS or GE machines at customs and immigration, can you use them?
