My wife and kids (2 and 5) applied for Nexus a few weeks ago. I'm a little unclear; do I need to book them three appointments or can I just book one for my wife and go with her and the kids to the single appointment (because I do know I am supposed to be there with the kids).

My wife and I both applied for Nexus on October 5th, eight weeks and one day ago.
She's a German citizen and Green Card holder, and was approved at the six-week point. I'm a US/Canadian dual citizen, and my approval has not yet come through. I emailed yesterday to follow up, but haven't received a response. Are there many reports of this taking LONGER than eight weeks? We live nowhere near the border, but will be there over the holidays. The appointments in mid-January are getting snapped up really quickly, it seems. |
Just a quick update to my post above, in case it helps in the future. I needed 3 interview slots for myself, mrs, and jr. On the phone was booked in March. Logged into GOES today, clicked "Manage Appointment" and from there a calendar pops up showing availablity. BANG right there was 3 slots next Saturday Dec 10. Super easy to do, just booked one, logged out and logged back in as the next member of the family, took the second one, etc. 5 minutes WELL WORTHWHILE.
Noticed that on GOES they had only morning slots available, lady on the phone booked me in afternoon slots. SPECULATION ONLY, but wonder if they separate the appointment blocks by booking method? The lady on the phone said even single appointments were booking into March, online though seemed pretty quick. YMMV but definetely encourage you to check online, even if you need multiple slots. |
Thanks for clarifying that's what I thought. I realized we wont see the conditional approval for another couple weeks but wanted to understand what we should do. Fortunately living west of Toronto we can choose from several offices so I'm sure we'll find something that works in the not too distant future.

I just hit the 5 week mark for my application, still no word.
Mine was a fairly straightforward Canadian Citizen application. |

We just received our nexus cards (about a week after the interview). Boy, these cards are *UGLY*. My EDL looks much better!

Applied, got approved and had interview in less than 8 weeks. Interview was fairly stress free.
Now that Mrs Mapleg has seen me go through the process, she will be applying also. That should make life a lot easier for both of us. |

I also used the GE at YYZ when the NEXUS machines were down (this seems to be a theme). No sticker was required.

Is GE only available at YYZ? I was going home from YUL recently, and the machines were down, but no GE machines in sight either.
What annoys me about YOW, regardless if NEXUS or GE...either way, one still ends up having to explain reasons for travel to a Customs Officer. Using Nexus/GE in YYZ, I simply hand in the card with my declaration form and onwards to security. |

There are 2 GE kiosks in YOW. I think NEXUS for US entry is slowly being withdrawn in favour of GE...at least at airports.

OIC... I still have to explain travel at YUL when crossing back into the US, and at all land crossings. I see no difference.

AT YYZ, when I use GE or Nexus, I receive the "ticket", then proceed directly towards Security where I hand in my declaration form and Nexus/GE receipt. That person is simply a collector and doesn't ask questions.....
