Here are my questions....

1. I arrive at 8:35 in T3 and my appt. is 9:20 in T1 is it doable?

If I arrive earlier will they let me in?

2. I read that you need to take the Link train, how much transit time?

3. When you exit the Link train, can you please share how I get to the enrollment centre without getting lost?

My flight leaves at 11:35am from T3, will I be able to make it back?

No luggage, 8:35 to 9:20 should be doable if the flight is on time.

Yes, they'll let you in earlier but you'll sit around and wait for your appointment (you can just sit outside the office there's a coffee spot nearby).

Link train will take about 4 minutes.

Follow the signs to departures, the Nexus office in T1 is near the US gates. It doesn't have a big sign but it's really RIGHT beside where you go through to the gates. Easy to find.

Yes, you'll make it fine for your trip back.

I've done YYZ-DEN-X with my bag checked all the way to X. Are non-YYZ Canadian airports not currently certified to do the same?

Your bag will get checked through, whether it makes it on the same flight as you with a short connection is another story.

I honestly didn't realize they still did this. I have made dozens of connections in ORD from YYZ in the last three years with checked bags. Many scheduled under an hour, including one which arrived in ORD late, and I had 20 minutes from deplaning to connection departure (had to sprint from B to C).

In all these instances, I have never once had my bags delayed from Canada - except when US did it connecting in PHL - but this was a long layover, so I'm pretty certain it was US incompetence rather than screening delays.

Bolding is mine. That's a big one. You're coming from LGA in the morning, which is definitely better than afternoon/evening, but you have less than an hour to account for any delays and customs lines (I suspect few at T3, and at that hour, but you never know). Any delays could put you at risk. Whether they will take you if you arrive more than a few minutes late could be dicey (that is a guess though, I have no experience doing this).

Nexus office is on the departure levels, just next to the entrance to customs. Pretty much behind the AC elite check in counters, I think.

It's next to Post H on the right of the entrance to US Immigration on the departures level.

(And yes, if everything is on time, you should be OK, but one never knows with immigration/customs in both directions).

Yes, they do. The bags are rescreened at ORD at the end of terminal B, down by the old Continental gates. You can see the baggage being driven over there by AC ground staff from the bridge between terminals 1 and 2. This was pointed out to me by a UA exec, who bemoaned it saying that it really caused a lot of baggage missconnections.

As stated above, all bags inbound from international origins and connecting onto USA domestic flights or other international flights are rescreened by TSA. YYZ origin is no exception.

From the descriptions elsewhere in this thread, the ORD rescreening of checked bags appears to be an overall efficient operation. DEN is the opposite however it has more to do with terminal layout design failure. At DEN there are only TSA bag screeners in the centeral Jeppesen terminal. So bags from A (AC gates) and B (UA gates) have to go back to central processor to get their TSA wash and wax. Efficiently this process takes 45 minutes from removal from flight one to loading onto flight 2.

THis really only affects me when transiting through DEN on vacation. On biz trips I carry on only. Mrs YEG Guy and now Miss YEG Guy like to take a lot of extra stuff.

They are just talking about the Nexus priority security lines to the US, which are now allowed under the border security agreement announced a couple weeks ago. Too bad they are going to take until February to launch them.

That's why I use the Amex/AC elite priority channel. Though agree it is not a dedicated security line like the NEXUS ones which lead to a dedicated screening unit. Wonder if these will also implement the "no shoe removal" which the US has implemented for its Trusted Traveler program experiment at several airports for security processing?

My experience in Nov. was receiving the card within a few weeks of the interview.

My wife and I are flying from YYC to MUC via EWR in late April 2012. We have 1hr 23m to change planes. Any suggestion for us in getting the NEXUS card to expedite the transit or do we have enough time to get across to Terminal B and clearance as is. We do not expect to travel across the south border much.

You'll pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in YYC. The only thing you have to worry about is re-clearing security. There is no bus behind security between Terminal A1 and Terminal B as far as I remember. You'll have to take the AirTrain to change terminals outside the sterile area.

Right, no need for me to pick up the checked-in luggage and recheck? Re-clearing security is at the terminal B departure or at arrival, Terminal A? and only hand luggage to take on AirTrain or all luggage??

Got our conditional approval almost 6weeks from point of application for myself, wife, 2 YO and 6yO.
