Just wondering if there are any recent Nexus applicants around who can advise on the approximate wait times to be approved after applying through GOES.

My SO, a Canadian citizen, but US resident working on a work visa (H1-B), applied on April 26, which was three and a half weeks ago, and still is "pending review." She shouldn't really have anything to worry about with her history. Last I remember on this thread, the typical times seemed to be around 1-2 weeks? Anyone know if that has changed.

On a somewhat related note, I did have a friend tell me about 3 weeks ago that she got and accepted an offer to get a faster approval process - I think she said $50, and believe this was through GOES (SO did not get this option). Have not heard that mentioned here. If it makes a difference, friend is a Canadian citizen/resident.

Interesting, because my SO and i applied 16 days ago and we're still 'pending review'. Before we applied I heard of many mentioning a ten day period before approval for an interview was granted. Not sure why there should be any delay and I'm also wondering if something has changed. We're both US citizens.

We are Canadian citizens..Took about a month from April 5th,2011 when Applying, interview and receiving our cards in the mail. It cost us $ 50.00 with the application. The background checks can take sometime.;)

Yes, it seems to be taking longer now. I applied in early March and was conditionally approved exactly 2 weeks later.

My parents applied in early May and they are now going on 3 weeks. My boyfriend (Canadian citizen on a TN visa) is on 2.5 weeks.

+1. I applied in Feb (and I had 3 diff visas over the years) and got approved in 6 business days.

Friend applied last month and took him over 15 business days to get approved.

2) The Amex Platinum card reimburses you $100 when you apply for a GOES card. GOES is not Nexus, but when I applied for my Nexus card and charged it to my Amex Plat, Amex credited me with $100. Yes, even though the Nexus fee is only $50.

Must not be a Canadian Amex card.

Most certainly your laptop (and misc sundry like Mifi routers or a personal hub you might need for your own use, regardless of who actually owns it) is not a commercial good.

IMO the best way to think of it is as follows:

Interesting opinions. How about an LCD projector?

I would guess that it would be considered commercial, as it likely exceeds the definition of "standard" computer accessory, and is certainly used for selling my company's products. I will make a point of asking at YUL on Wednesday and will report back here with the answer I get.

In the meantime, does anyone have any input on this question?

I guess I asked a tad too soon...the approval came this morning for my SO. Tomorrow would have been exactly 4 weeks since her application. 19 bus. days.

I will be shocked if a projector is considered commercial. I'm saying no. Ask and find out (Though one agent may differ from another).

So ~3 weeks after submitting my "lost card" application, I get a conditional pass.

first appointment in:
YVR, week of June 6
YYZ, week of July 18
YYC, week of August 8 !!

Hmm.....interesting, when did you see that YYZ appointment in July (or did you just book it). I just looked and right now, first YYZ available is August 23.

Really? Where have you disclosed your travel origin to them prior to submitting your verbal or written declaration? I'm certainly impressed with their ability to do so but who let you in on the secret?

My guess would be APIS.

I have taken an LCD projector across using Nexus a number of times. I can't recall if I have gone to secondary with one but I would be surprised if it would be considered a commercial item since it is obviously coming back with me (although it could be considered a "tool"). It would be interesting to hear a CBP agents take on it.
