But their US counterparts in the same office should know about the program.

I have to say at Fort Erie, they put the CBP sticker in my passport (inside the back cover, not on the back cover) and did everything without blinking an eye.

Rant - About the elusive Global Entry Stickers.

3. May 2011: Used Global Entry successfully for the first time at ORD. Was asked by the CBP Officer at the exit where my GE Sticker was. Told him I didn't have one. Was "soft" referred to the CBP office at the exit. "Make sure you stop at the office on the way out"

:p

ORD is the only Port of Entry that has requested me to show the CBP sticker as I pass through Customs. I have re-entered the US through ORD, IAD, SEA, LAX & SFO using Global Entry. I just figured ORD had set their own rules.

Anyone else noticed this?

I've used GE at ORD, three times, and have never been asked for my sticker...

How wonderfully inconsistent of them! The first time I was told ”Always open your passport and show the CBP label” . I have done so ever since then at ORD.

The Customs official at ORD didn't look for a CBP sticker in my passport either, but nor did he take my kiosk card either. He took the normal card that everyone fills out (not sure if GE people need to fill one out but I was given one on my YQR-ORD flight so I completed it) and let me through.

I never fill out the card given out on the aircraft (or that is available in the arrivals hall). The questions ask by the GE Kiosk are similar and the card that is printed out is what you are supposed to give the customs ( CBP ) agent as you leave. The whole purpose of GE is not to have to do any of that.

NEXUS- No Iris stickers

Hi all, I am hoping someone will know this. I received cards in the mail for my self and my two children whose irises were not scanned. At the time of interview I was given stickers to place on the back of each child's card but now that we've received them, I see no precise indication of where to place stickers. I just don't want to put them in the wrong place. I've searched online and called but no one comes on the line. Can someone here help? Thanks in advance.

Anywhere of the back of the card is fine. Not really a big deal. I've never had anyone ever look for the sticker. They usually just scan the kids passports at the desk.

Amex Plat and Interview Window

I just applied for a NEXUS card and thought I would share two pieces of information.

1) I only travel to Canada maybe every 6 months, but still wanted a card, because I am almost always flying back early Monday morning and the lines are awful. I don't live anywhere near the border, and had not applied because my trips are usually on fairly short notice, so I couldn't be sure when I could schedule the interview at a border crossing. I called and was told, I think, that I can schedule an interview for up to 3 months out, and then I can cancel and reschedule up to 3 times. So if I do it right, I have a 9-month window for the interview. Also, they said that sometimes they can take walk-ins. So I applied, hoping that sometime in the next 9 months I'll have enough notice to schedule an interview at YYZ, or possibly Buffalo.

2) The Amex Platinum card reimburses you $100 when you apply for a GOES card. GOES is not Nexus, but when I applied for my Nexus card and charged it to my Amex Plat, Amex credited me with $100. Yes, even though the Nexus fee is only $50.

Thanks so much.

This is wrong. The kiosk asks "have you answered "YES" to questions x trough y on the form". This presupposes you have filled the form beforehand. At every US entry port I've been, I've been asked for the card, together with the kiosk receipt. And you definitely need to have filled out the Canadian declaration card when entering Canada.

I haven't used GE yet, but as I understand it, the GE kiosk's, and the receipt they print out, replace the customs card most fill out in the plane. This is what the officer specifically told me when instructing me on GE when I got my fingerprints done.

Just FYI...there is no such thing as a "GOES card." GOES is the Global Online Enrollment system, which is the US, DHS-run site where you can apply for trusted traveller programs (i.e. NEXUS, GE and SENTRI). I think you are refering to Global Entry?

Sounds like you are both correct - just you and DEN are talking about different machines. DEN was referring to the GE machines, and when using those (when arriving in the US, not pre-clearance), you don't need to fill out a customs card. Sounds like you are referring to the NEXUS machines, where you are required to fill out a customs card.

I think the Global Entry (GE) and NEXUS programs may have gotten mixed up here. I was specifically resonding to a "rant" on Global Entry and the Global Entry sticker (which actually says "CBP" ) that goes on the inside back cover of your passport. Global Entry can only be used to enter into the US, at certain locations. NEXUS is, of course, a bidirectional entry program between the US and Canada. You do not need to complete a Customs Form when entering the US using a Global Entry Kiosk. I participate in the SENTRI (US-MEXICO) NEXUS, Global Entry and Privium (Netherlands) trusted traveller programs. The rules for all these programs are different, and it can be confusing.

You have confused Nexus and Global Entry. They are not the same.

I stand corrected. My apologies for thinking a NEXUS thread was actually about NEXUS.
