That's why I flew in the day before, took no chances with delays and/or potential extra CBSA screening. Perhaps the super short time (to them) made it look like you were hiding being a courier for "special cargo"? And they can't verify the letter on the spot necessarily either.

You're attempting to apply logic to what is often a seemingly illogical process :D.

Thanks for the reassurance, all, especially MDFFlyer and mnbp. Guess I was overthinking it. If I can make an earlier schedule work I'll definitely give it a shot. |

I have a renewal question.. Was just filling out the renewal form for my wife, and when she applied initially (back in 2012), she had listed her currently employer (since 2008) as well as the job she had before that.
This information is still on the application, but because they only require the past 5 years, we should be safe to remove it, right? |

lol. Given the I-94 is only valid for 90/180 days at a time, that would be inconvenient if it were true. The I-94 isn't a visa its just an admission document given to the those who enter the US (except for US citizens, Green card holders & Canadians at land borders). You don't need to do anything with the I-94 its all stored and updated electronically.

Everything you said makes perfect sense. It didn't stop me from getting sent to secondary, despite having updated my I-20 in person, and the "nice" officer at secondary telling me that I was supposed to have given a printout of my I-94 with my I-20 to the Nexus office. I got out of that one with a warning, at least.
Moot point, I guess. If they want them printed, you'll just have to print them. Probably another practice that varies based on the examining officer, the port of entry, the time of day and the phase of the moon, too. |

I just got my conditional approval. Tried scheduling for an interview at YUL but they have nothing before August 13th, so I ended up scheduling at the Champlain border.
I am traveling on Monday from YUL - MLB, so I was wondering if I get approved on Friday, will I be able to use Nexus lane on Monday? My application Applied: April 22, 2017 Conditional Approval: July 12, 2017 Interview: July 14, 2017 Approved: TBD Card arrived: TBD |

Well, you need the physical card to be able to use the Nexus lane, so no, because you will not have received it by Monday.

I read on another thread that you could since the passport would have that information.

No. Nexus lanes at land crossings require Nexus cards (or GE cards for entering US from Canada). https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-t...ams/nexus/card Without the Nexus card, you won't be able to use the Nexus lane at the border because you won't have anything to hold "in front of the card reader". |

Air, entering US at a Canadian preclearance airport: Global Entry kiosks will accept passport or NEXUS card as long as fingerprints are in the system. Air, entering US an an airport other than Canadian preclearance locations: Global Entry kiosks require passport (not GE/NEXUS/SENTRI cards) and fingerprints in the system. Air, entering Canada: NEXUS kiosks require NEXUS card and iris scans. Land, entering US: NEXUS lanes require all passengers in car to have NEXUS/Global Entry/SENTRI cards. Land, entering Canada: NEXUS lanes require all passengers in car to have NEXUS cards (GE/SENTRI do not work). |
Short version is YUL-MLB does not require physical card in possession as passport will do for GE kiosks. Information in some of prior replies are inaccurate.

My father tried using his newly received but not yet activated (he didn't realize he had to activate) card at a land crossing into the US and was detained in secondary for 3-4 hours while they tried to determine if he had stolen the card and verified his identity. It wasn't pleasant. |
