NEXUS Denial Reversed by Ombudsman
I posted a story about a NEXUS Denial that was reversed by the Ombudsman, in the Global Entry forum.
NEXUS Denial Reversed By Ombudsman |
I posted this question previously but the people who responded didn't seem to know the answer. Thought I'd try one more time, as there are some people here who seem to be very knowledgeable and I'm not sure if they noticed it before.
There have been some posters here saying that NEXUS members without iris scans on file can use the special service desk when flying into Canada. Others have said only with the sticker. I'm a NEXUS member who doesn't have iris scans on file yet. I will be flying into YYZ this week in the afternoon around the time a lot of European flights arrive, and would like to avoid long lines (I'm a US citizen). I plan to get the scans while I'm there. I just want to see if anyone has the latest information on this. Thanks. |

I think you can only use Nexus lanes when entering the US from Canada. Is that what you meant? |

YYZ - In order to use the Nexus lanes flying in to YYZ you insert your Nexus card into the machine and look into the "glasses" until it recognizes your irises, I don't think it would work without the iris scan, and the rules say you need the iris scan to fly into Canada.

I know you can’t use the kiosk. I’m wondering about the special services desk which is minimally available for NEXUS members who can’t get the kiosk to work or didn’t get an iris scan due to age or disability. |

Yes. This is perfectly fine. Actually at YUL a security agent will send you to the diplomats line if one does not have an iris scan on file.

Yes. With GE you can use the nexus lanes when Entering the US from Canada. You can't use the nexus land in Canada when entering from the US with GE.

Yes, one exception is a NEXUS driver carrying GE-only (not NEXUS) members as passengers entering the USA by land. It's a violation of the NEXUS rules to carry non-NEXUS members as passengers in the NEXUS lane, even if they have GE. A US CBP officer warned me about this the last time I was in a NEXUS office. He said that while many CBP officers may allow it, others won't, so don't do it.
So as a GE only card holder with no Nexus, if I were to ride back to the US with a driver who had Nexus he would be in violation of the Nexus program since I don't have Nexus but have GE and am allowed to us that lane??? Interesting. |

My timeline:
1. TSA Pre check member 2. Global entry member 3. Converted Global entry to Nexus All airlines have my KTN from the TSA pre check application and always had PreCheck. Question: I'm flying for the first time today on AA since Nexus approval and no PreCheck, same process for checking in for the past 3 years. Do I use my Nexus number from now on for KTN with airlines? Update: booked ticket with wrong DoB |
If you had used your NEXUS number during check-in, you would've been able to get pre-check.
