PASSID populating = conditional approval forthcoming?
Probably a stupid question, is the presence of PASSID number an indicator that a conditional approval for Nexus is coming soon? I logged into my TTP account to check status today and saw Membership # / PASSID number populated for the first time (I think). I could be wrong but I do not believe I saw this the last time I logged in, which was a week ago. Somebody in one of the other threads said he saw the presence of a PASSID for the first time a couple of days before he received conditional approval. I did searched on this thread as well as Googled and could not find any useful information either way.
I applied for Nexus a little more than 3 calendar months ago if that makes a difference. Thanks. |
It is a small possibility though I believe once you complete and application you’re assigned one.
one thing we experimented with whenever my girlfriend applied for nexus was adding her number to a booking right after she got conditional approval and she got Tsa precheck and this was before she did her interview, too. |
The pass ID is issued immediately after the application is submitted.
In my experience regardless of conditional approval we didn't get precheck until we completed the actual interview. |

It works for all land and sea border crossings, and for airport border crossing as long as fly between US/CANADA without a stop in another country. If an airline agent says no, have them call their support desk. No passport is required.

I tried to use my NEXUS card to board an ORD-YUL flight on Air Canada. The gate agent would not accept the card. I had to use my passport. Unless you are okay with missing your flight, bring a passport. I'd rather be flying than eventually proven right after missing my flight.

I travel using just Nexus frequently as when I'm home in US, I'm normally needing to send my passport off to an embassy/consulate for a new/updated visa. |

Just one question: Are you a U.S. or Canadian citizen?

It doesn't matter. US and Canadian citizens can use Nexus card alone to fly between US/Canada, as long as not stopping in any other country (so no flying AeroMexico YYZ-MEX-SAT or UA MEX-IAH-YYZ using only a NEXUS card).

While this is absolutely true, I have also been chased down the ramp at YVR (which has pre-screening for US arrivals, I might add) by a secondary gate agent after showing my Nexus at boarding. This individual insisted I had to show my passport. I had it with me and really needed overhead bin space, so I didn't push it beyond "you might want to check the rules, I don't *need* a passport, but here ya are".

9/12 - MSP-YVR - DL gate agent would not accept Nexus card because an airplane was not "printed" on it (airplane is in the hologram) - used passport and filed a training complaint with DL.
9/22 - YVR-SLC - No problem using Nexus card, and in fact DL gate agent announced to show either Nexus or passport to board (she said it was a Transport Canada rule, even though we had come through U.S. preclearance - ?). |
I have always found it strange that a drivers license wasn't sufficient at that point, but 99% of the time Nexus is just fine. Likely was a newer agent. Was a couple months ago, great that they're announcing "Nexus or passport" now! Was just "photo id" before.

That's odd. We flew back from Canada to the US twice within the past year and they never asked to see our ID with our BP post-US preclearance whenever we boarded.
