United IAD-YUL and Air Canada YUL-IAD. Same ticket.
AC should've also asked before letting you onboard flight to IAD. I'm betting agent wasnt paying attention if they let you board without showing ID. I fly AC between YYZ/SAT and have never had them not ask for ID. |

I have been conditionally approved for Nexus [Current Global Entry member, expires April 2020 so in my renewal window]
The website says you need to SCHEDULE your interview within 365 days, other information says you need to COMPLETE your interview within 365 days. Anyone know which is correct? Also, anyone have any luck walking into YYZ without an appt? I'm fairly certain I hadn't seen that message the last time I logged in to check (maybe a week ago?), so thought it worth posting here. |
Separate post for different issue (moderator feel free to move if this is not the right place - the threading seems to have changed while I was inactive!).
I applied for renewal of my Nexus after expiry (long story, good reasons). I didn't expect to be traveling to/from Canada regularly and when I went into a Nexus office at YUL I wanted to ask about renewal after expiry. I had my Nexus card with me and they insisted on taking it from me, because it had expired. They gave me a photocopy. However, I was chatting with the American CBP agent at Cape Vincent (little ferry border crossing) and he said people use expired ID frequently for proof of citizenship and that is acceptable. It wasn't the first time I had heard that - I may even have seen posts that confirm it in the old thread(?). So, should the CBP officer who took my card at YUL have let me keep it? (I thought about claiming I didn't have it on me, but am not a good liar at all!) |

Just thought I'd add an FYI answer to this. Logged in to TTP website today to check status of my renewal (always 'awaiting review'... sigh) and there was a new banner alert that said anyone with conditional approval who is able should just walk in to an office for interview because of ongoing backlog. [EDIT: I had the page open still, here it is verbatim: "Conditionally approved GE members should seek to complete their GE interviews without an appointment upon arrival from an international flight at any of the 49 airports participating in CBP's Enrollment on Arrival (EoA) program." I'd certainly add that this probably can happen at a land crossing as well, or at least I'd try! And admittedly it says GE but guessing applies also to Nexus?]

I regularly fly LGA-YYZ on Air Canada and they always ask to see a passport or NEXUS ID before boarding the plane both at LGA and at YYZ

They were chasing you down the ramp in Vancouver after you did US Preclearance? Why would they even care at that point, you've already entered the US for immigration purposes. And you would think YVR agents would have seen tons of Nexus only travelers.

Don’t know if airport workers in precleared area of airport need to be US admissible. But without ID check, it is conceivable airport worker can conspire with a pre cleared passenger to fly into US.

Updating a new passport in NEXUS when it can't be done online
My NEXUS enrollment is valid until 2021. My US passport expired earlier this year and I just received the new passport recently. I was unable to update my passport information on the TTP website; I got an error message that I had to go to a "CBP enrollment center" on a walk-in basis so an agent could do this. So I go to the CBP Global Entry office at EWR and the agent there says I need to go to a NEXUS enrollment center. I tried to call the one in Champlain, NY to see if they accept walk-ins but I was never able to get through to a live person or receive a reply to my voice mail. Can anyone confirm that updating NEXUS with a new US passport can be done on a walk-in basis at a NEXUS enrollment center? Thank you.

Is there any way to get announcements for NEXUS Mobile Enrollment events? I know there were two recently in Los Angeles, one in Fall 2018 and one in Spring 2019, and a number of others in different non-border cities. However I only find out about these after the fact. My GE expires in 2020 and I would like to plan if I can get to a Mobile enrollment event to switch to NEXUS or if I need to renew GE.
