If a card reimburses $100 for GE they should reimburse up to $100 for Nexus (Nexus includes GE).

You would think credit card companies would gladly reimburse $50 instead of $100. Perhaps more people complain, they will add NEXUS.

I was thinking the same thing. On another forum someone else mentioned if you called Am Ex they will give you the credit for Nexus but you may have to play the HUCA game.

I've never understood why GE is twice the price as Nexus anyway since you have to go through the same interview and background check for Nexus that you do for GE. It can't be costing the US government anymore to process a GE applicant than a Nexus applicant.

My hypothesis is that the price can only be changed if both governments agree, and with ~80% of NEXUS members being Canadian the incentive is for Canada to keep it cheap.

+1. It's a joint program. Thus neither can change fee unilaterally.

People will still pay for GE that dont live close to/visit Canada much.

Definitely cheaper than traveling to Canada if you never need to otherwise.

Precheck alone is worth it. I think GE has lost a lot of it's value in airports with Mobile Passport, I've traveled with friends before and it's only taken them a few more minutes to clear customs with Mobile Passport than it has me with GE. I've found the biggest value in GE lately doing land crossings from Canada into the US, it's saved me a lot of time. I just wish the nexus lanes were open later coming into the US.

I was unable to update my passport information on the TTP website; I got an error message that I had to go to a "CBP enrollment center" on a walk-in basis so an agent could do this. So I go to the CBP Global Entry office at EWR and the agent there says I need to go to a NEXUS enrollment center. I tried to call the one in Champlain, NY to see if they accept walk-ins but I was never able to get through to a live person or receive a reply to my voice mail. Can anyone confirm that updating NEXUS with a new US passport can be done on a walk-in basis at a NEXUS enrollment center? Thank you.

This must be because of the changes to the website? I had no trouble updating mine online, but that was admittedly a couple of years ago. Bizarrely it seems it even let me add my name change, which seems odd at best!

I have a trip to Niagara falls in a few weeks (canada side) for a conference and something we want to do is cross the rainbow bridge via foot. Is there a Nexus lane on the US side for foot traffic?

No as of last summer. Bulk of the traffic crossing is vehicular. We went during peak season such that cars were backed up to the Canadian side entering the US but foot traffic was a 2 minute wait; thus I don't think there is a need for a NEXUS lane for foot traffic considering there is no NEXUS lane for vehicles either.

I thought all the land crossings for cars had Nexus lanes. Makes sense the foot crossing wouldn't be that long and there wouldn't be any car inspections involved

No NEXUS at Rainbow Bridge because 1.5 miles downstream is Whirlpool Bridge which is a NEXUS-only crossing; GE/EDL/SENTRI/Passport Card will not open the barrier to the bridge.

Interesting, I didn't know they had Nexus only crossings. How would that even work, you would still have to talk to a CBP officer to get through even with Nexus.

There is a barrier with an RFID reader leading up to the bridge. The barrier will only open with a NEXUS card; GE card will not raise the gate. Inspection will take place after you cross the bridge.

There is indeed a Nexus lane. It's all the way to the left. However you'll need to wait with everyone crossing the bridge.

My understanding from prior trips is that the left lane is a Ready Lane

In any case, as there is no NEXUS-only traffic lane on the bridge itself, taking the 3 mile (2 x 1.5 miles) detour to cross to Whirlpool would be quicker during peak times. If the app shows wait times of 10-15 minutes or more, I would just go to Whirlpool.
