Is anyone familiar with having NEXUS with TN status? Will be applying for TN-1 at YYZ to work in US, which to my understanding basically involves applying with the customs officer after you get through security. But once you get admitted, you can't go back to the NEXUS office which is pre-security and tell them about your visa status change. Can the CBP officer handle updating that if you present your passport and your NEXUS card?
Also, I never actually use the NEXUS card for entering US or Canada, I just have it for Global Entry and TSA Pre and I use my passport as normal. Is it okay to just keep using Global Entry kiosks with TN-1 status? Any special procedures upon leaving and re-entering the US? Yes, you can use Global Entry kiosks with TN status, once you visit an enrollment center to update your visa, a third option will show up on kiosk screen for TN visa. If you have not visited an enrollment center, do NOT use GE, do NOT select 'other visa status', you will risk getting your Nexus revoked for not updating your TN status. |

No, Nexus visa updates have to be done at enrollment center, CBP officer will not know how to handle it for you. You'll be admitted after getting TN visa approved, and you'll have to visit an enrollment center another time, no appointment needed.

The kiosks ask about food, and if you say yes will put a notation on your receipt (much like the US Global Entry kiosks do). The officer at the exit will probably ask you what the food is and may send you to secondary.
(That's what happened last time I flew into YUL, last year.) i meant was hesitant not wasn’t - typo |

Thank you. I thought maybe I was breaking rules by not going to tell them about the visa status change ASAP, but I'll just go without until I next visit Canada. Would be nice if there was a way to update it within the US, oh well.

You should visit a Global Entry enrollment center. There are GE enrollment centers throughout the US - any GE center can handle this update for you.
NEXUS members must go to a NEXUS Enrollment Center (or is it Centre if you go to one in Canada?) for anything program related. No ifs, ands, or buts. |
I got my Nexus card last year. I remember one of the Canadian agents saying that if I brought in my birth certificate to the enrollment center any time at a later date, they could scan it into my file and the nexus card would not expire or something. My memory might be wrong, so wondering if anyone knows anything about this.

Mark your calendar to renew 364 days before expiration. |

Total bunk. NEXUS requires renewal every 5 years.

Your expiration date is clearly marked on your NEXUS card.

Niagara Falls Enrollment Center
I have Nexua interview @ the Niagara Falls Enrollment Center. I would like to please know which items will they allow me to bring in? Example my suitcase, suitbag, carry-on bag or cellphone etc?
|
Can someone help me with their experiences? I had applied for Nexus and got conditionally approved but never got an email for the conditional approval. I found out about the approval when I was curiously checking for my application status. The same happened even after my Nexus interview, again never got an email for the approval but found out the approval after logging to my account Was able to see the approval letter. why am I not getting approval updates through my email? Has anyone gone through a similar situation? Thank you |

I got an email for my conditional approval, but not for my final, post-interview approval. I had to log in to find out I had been approved. |

My First NEXUS Experience
Just did a round trip Hartford-Montreal...entered Canada from Derby Line,VT (I-91) and returned via the I-87 Station (can't recall the town).Going up the Canadian official asked me several question...questions that were routinely asked of me before I got the card. IOW,entry into Canada was no more,or less, difficult than it's been in the past. But coming home (I'm a US citizen) the US Customs agent asked me if I had anything to declare,I said "no",and he let me through. The exchange took no more than 10 seconds.
I'm wondering if my encounter with the Canadian official is typical for US citizen NEXUS Card holders. |
