Is the blurb we get in our GOES account vague and we really have to do more steps to have access to GE or is it bang on and if you get this blurb you can just use your CDN passport to for GE?

It appears different people are getting different messages, depending on what is on file. If you got all 10 fingerprints scanned when you did your interview, then you may not have to do anything. For me, I didn't, and my message said I can use GE once those are on file.

So logged into my Nexus Goes account today and received this message:

"As a NEXUS member, you can now use the Global Entry kiosks located at the top 20 major U.S. international airports to enter the U.S. To use the Global Entry kiosks, you must use a valid machine readable passport. Do not use your NEXUS card in the kiosk, but you may wish to carry it with you. There is no additional cost to use Global Entry, and you may use it for the duration of your NEXUS membership. Additional information about Global Entry can be found at http://www.GlobalEntry.gov/. If you do not wish to use Global Entry kiosks, please disregard this message. "

Am I good to go, or do I need to do anything further at a Nexus station to enable the account?

You are good to go. Although it was 'recommended' to me by CBP that I should try and get a sticker whenever I got the chance, but I could use it without the sticker until then.

As Nexus members, do we have to pay the $100 GE application fee? or as quoted above FREE? for the duration of the Nexus membership?

No fee, it is free for the life of your Nexus card.

Don't know the name of the officer who processed my transition, but the ORD office was very quiet when I went there Tuesday morning around 10a. Just go to T5 on the lower arrivals level and the office is at the very far end of the hall. Since the formal announcement only went out last week it is not unusual that LAX was a bit clueless.

The key issue is having a set of fingerprints in your NEXUS file, but also that the NEXUS and GE databases are not yet integrated so the email message is a bit ambiguous. If you had a full set of fingerprints taken when you got your NEXUS card, then you are likely set to go. If not, then you need to get this into your file. The process includes an actual application being input into their system, then merged with your existing NEXUS file.

You need your passport as this is put into the machine for reading and initial ID purposes. Then you do a fingerprint confirmation. After that it is similar to the NEXUS kiosks in that you answer the questions found on the blue cards. You then get two cards, a large one that is collected upon leaving the customs hall (as with NEXUS) and a smaller one that you are supposed to give to the airline when you next leave the US. If either card has an "X" across it, you need to see an officer and you can go to the head of the line adjacent to the machines.

After registering you do get a sticker for your passport to flash to get into the proper lane (should there be someone directing people). So even if you are set to go in the NEXUS system (i.e. you know you did a full set of fingerprints) you should check in with a GE or NEXUS office to have this sticker affixed to the back cover of your passport.

On my GOES account I received essentially the same message as quoted by other posters, however, about midway in the message it says: "If you wish to use Global Entry, please contact any trusted traveller enrollment center to schedule an appopintment to have your passport information added."

What I don't understand is that Nexus has my passports information (both U.S. and Canadian). In fact my passport numbers are clearly shown on the GOES page that contains the above information. Why should I schedule an appointment to provide information they already have? This is probably a moot point as I would almost never enter the U.S. from a country other than Canada, but I may wish to use Porter to fly to Newwark, that I believe has GE. If I don't make this appointment, does anyone think I could still use a GE kiosk? By the way Nexus has all ten of my fingerprints.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry9650/5.0.0.975 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Got a couple dumb questions, couldn't find the answers upthread.

I'll be flying to Canada soon with a non-NEXUS family member. We're both dual citizens; she'll be traveling on a Canadian passport and I'll have my US passport as a backup to NEXUS card (my Canadian passport is expired). Can I go through the Canadian citizen line with her?

Also, does one have to complete a Customs declaration form when entering either the US or Canada via NEXUS kiosks? I was pleasantly surprised that I did not when entering the US with GE, but is NEXUS as easy?
