Kiosk at SEA didn't recognize my registration! Even though the test at ORD worked. No time to check with Homeland Security at SEA and there is no Global Entry office at DEN where I currently am awaiting my flight to YYZ. Office at YYZ will likely be closed by the time I get home. Sounds like this thing is a real F*ckup!

For entering Canada, you're ok. However, you must have your Nexus card to enter the US and as stated frequently in this thread, US officers frequently require you to show your card. If you don't have it, you are pulled into secondary and could very well lose your Nexus privileges. You are required to have your Nexus card with you according to the rules, but only the US seems to enforce this.
This is a very dangerous analysis. While CBSA does not ask for the card upon exit, get secondaried without it and you will cease to be a nexus participant. |

Bolding mine.

Passport - don't leave home without it. I have been asked to show Nexus card, on occasion, both ways. |
You're right of course in theory and I don't question that you were asked for it. However, I have been enrolled since Canpass days, using it almost weekly for five or six years, have been sent to secondary in Canada and the US on many occasions and have never, ever been asked by Canadian officials for my Nexus card, and was told specifically by the Canadian enrolment officer that I only needed the card if the machines were down and I wanted to use crew or diplomats' line. This was contradicted moments later by the US enrolment officer who told me to have it on my person whenever traversing the border.

Have any Nexus users on this forum been successful in using the Global Entry kiosks? I tried doing so the other day at Newark Airport and the kiosk wouldn't accept my passport. I then spoke to officers at the Global Entry Enrollment Center and they advised that there's currently no activation for Nexus users with Global Entry because the programs have yet to be linked. They also told me that 5 other Nexus users had come in that day asking the same question.

I don't know if somebody else is on the same situation but I'm not either US or CAN citizen, still have NEXUS, and I need an I94 form to be stamped by an officer when entering US from overseas. machines do not provide this, still I received the email from nexus that I can use GE, and the nexus online page says no further action required.
I have to go through JFK in 2 weeks, just in case I printed the email and my nexus page where it says I can use GE system. let's see how it goes. I will post results. |

I have been successful in using the Global Entry kiosks in IAD on January 6th. I figured I would give it a try, and it recognized my passport and my fingerprints no problem.

My Experience
I wanted to post my experience with Nexus and Global Entry.
I applied in December for Nexus and received conditional approval about a week later. I scheduled my interview for last Friday (1/14) in Seattle. The US agent wanted to know why I wanted NEXUS and I told her because I sometimes travel to Canada and also I wanted Global Entry. That answer seem to have annoyed her. The Canadian agent was very nice and said it made sense to apply for NEXUS first, as it was cheaper. On Monday, 1/17, I received an email stating there has been a change to my GOES account . There was notification that I have been approved for NEXUS and that my card is on its way. Additionally at the bottom of the page was the same verbiage about now being able to use Global Entry. I also tried to apply for Global Entry and that option was grayed out. Today 1/18, I fly back to Atlanta and decide to drop by the Global Entry enrollment center and ask for a sticker for my passport. The agent there stated that he could not merge my NEXUS account with Global Entry. He said he wanted to make sure that GE worked for me and that giving me a sticker wouldn't accomplish that. Therefore he must create a new profile for Global Entry. He proceeds to take new fingerprints and a picture. Additionally he stated that I am now approved for Global Entry based upon NEXUS. He gave me a walk through of the kiosk, placed a sticker on the inside of passport and sent me on my way. As an aside, he had no clue how NEXUS worked and was surprised that a card was issued for NEXUS users. Now, when I log onto GOES, I have NEXUS and Global Entry under "Program Membership". The verbiage about NEXUS users can GE is now gone. |
Would a kind person answer this, if I apply for Nexus this week I should received a conditional approved within two weeks right? I can then book an appointment on the date I want? I need to know this as I'm flying out next month and need to know how long it take. I can't find that info over at Nexus website and I'm in Ontario. Thank you kindly.

Unless everything goes perfect, you would be unlikely to get your card for a February flight. |

O The pick-up had 4 officers circulating around it and one of the guys had a mirror and was looking under it. They held the vehicle for a couple of minutes and let it go. The Honda in front of us was waived through as were we. Of course, when we got to the CAN side, there were no line-ups! That would explain why the wait sign said only 5 minutes.
One time I was crossing through Blaine (pre-Nexus, but I guess this fits the thread.) All kinds of CBP just before the Canadian border. I got pulled aside. They asked me if I was carrying more than $10,000. I laughed slightly (I shouldn't have) ... and said no. I was asked if I had a gun, to which I replied: "I'm a Canadian. We don't like guns." I guess they didn't like that answer since they proceeded to spend 15 minutes ripping apart my (rental) car and personal effects. They found nothing. Their attitude was anal throughout. I suspect they were looking for drug money coming back into Canada. |
