I looked over the NEXUS paper application.

It is entirely possible to apply without passport. Whether a NEXUS applied without passport can be used as NEXUS Air, I don't know. Of course you would expect to run into problems with USA airlines.

I stand corrected. My apologies. It certainly isn't an option thats been much discussed here.

Even though this thread is for the TT program, since this is FlyerTalk, I suppose there may be more flyers than drivers on the site, which would skew the discussion.

That said, it doesn't seem like the most convenient way to operate or use the program, in my opinion, since the lack of passport limits the allowed travel situations significantly.

Pretty much, yes. I have had NEXUS and have followed this thread since 2012. Discrepancies between what the NEXUS program's official published rules and guidelines say, and what CBSA/CBP officers on the ground will tell you, is pretty much par for the course.

Welcome to NEXUS.

When entering Canada by air, yes.

When entering the USA, yes, but only when used at a Global Entry kiosk at a US preclearance facility at a Canadian airport. If there is no US preclearance facility, a NEXUS card cannot be used to enter the USA by air.

What are previous experiences on just doing the iris scan at the airport on your next arrival? Trying to weigh options. Detroit is closest to us by 2 hours. My husband and I have a connection in Toronto on 12/26.

No prior experience here but two things I would check in YYZ. First, that they accept iris scans on a walk-in basis. And second, if you have sufficient time during your stopover to complete the process. There's a number posted on the CBSA site for YYZ you can call to inquire.

Let us know.

Hi

I am sure this question has been asked before, but cant find the answer.

I have a TN attached to my Nexus - it expires October 16, 2016.
It will NOT be renewed.

How do I get it removed from my profile. Do I need to get it removed? When I login to GOES I see it there but cannot edit.

Thanks for any input.

Do you only travel through airports, or land borders? GE machines at the airports always ask me for my entry category (on a different Visa: I see a choice of ESTA tourist/business entry, or my Visa) - in which case this probably doesn't matter. I'm not sure how land crossings and Visas for Canadians work though.

More complex changes need to be done at a nexus office

Visit an enrollment center (or perhaps the 800 number can remove it for you).

I'm pretty sure you have to remove it, as terms require you to inform them of changes to anything that impact your status in being able to enter the country (by that, should be either). If you can't do it on the website, which isn't that surprising, then I'd suggest a visit to the office, or at least a call to the center to see if they can do it, is in order.

Caveat - whether you can vs. should attempt this are entirely different questions.

As far as I am aware, the cards are only WHTI-approved in air mode when using a kiosk. Everything goes normally, that usually isn't an issue. But get into a situation where you need to see an agent (i.e. - declaring something, food included), get random'd, etc., you are no longer at a kiosk, and an agent can likely insist on seeing a passport. My guess is you don't want to have to deal with the response if you say I don't have one.

Also, whether the machine will actually accept a Nexus card where there is no passport tied to it is another potential issue (I think this is still coming out of that discussion). With no primary documentation on the backend that would provide adequate proof of admissibility, I'm not sure if the machine will take it or not (if anyone finds out, please inform us...that isn't going to be me).

Also there is the airline part of the equation...just because you may be admitted to Canada/US at a kiosk with the card, doesn't mean the carrier checking you in will consider it adequate proof. They have the ability to decide they will not check you in/board you - their requirements can be different then the government's. IME, AC often, but doesn't always, accept Nexus card at check in/boarding, and UA almost never does - stopped trying with them ages ago.

Nexus helpdesk

is there any email address/Phone number to contact nexus (goes) team? I called the number on their website, but it doesn't ring at all.

I attended the interview yesterday, and they said my nexus is approved. Got the email with in 10 mins.

When I login to my account today, it shows that one of my travel document is expired, but I already gave the extension document with future date to the officer. She took a scan of that document.

I want to make sure they have latest copy. Thanks!

Submitt a help request at https://help.cbp.gov/ . I've done this a few times and they are actually quite responsive. Same day replies in some cases.

Welcome to hell on earth :p , this process can be very painful. You need to call the enrolment office where you went for your interview. They need to adjust/resubmit any paperwork then you can start bugging the NEXUS offices.
