I would share my experience of my Nexus interview at the temporary location at YYZ (2935 Convair Drive).
|
I received my Nexus card today (7 days from interview) and activated it online. I have a flight tonight in four hours to the US departing from YYZ. I already did my online check in last night (Air Canada) and entered my passport information during the check in. I tried checking in again, but it skipped the passport info section. Can I still use Global Entry/Nexus when I get to YYZ and/or on my return? The advanced passenger info on the AC booking site is blank. Should I enter it there?

NEXUS/GE has NOTHING to do with checking in for your flight or your PNR, and your passport info must already be in your PNR in the first place. Use your card and passport as necessary at CBP Preclearance (GE) and CBSA (NEXUS) at YYZ.
In fact, only your NEXUS card will be required to access NEXUS CATSA security at YYZ. You will need to put your PASS ID in the Known Traveler Number field in your PNR to get TSA PreCheck on the US departure. |

Not entirely true: if you're an ESTA traveller (or possibly even in general for all travellers), the GE machines might have issues if you've not checked into your flight with the correct passport number and name. I.e. there are certainly scenarios where you might have issues if you didn't get your checkin details correct, although they aren't really specific to GE (APC would have the same issues, manual processing can probably override all prior data).

Thanks for your help. I was able to catch a few replies before heading to the airport. No problems getting through. Once in, I stopped at an AC service desk and asked them to update my advance passenger info with my Nexus info. No problems there. But something happened at the gate and wouldn't let me proceed. I was sent back to customer service. The rep couldn't understand it and walked my back to let me on.
Of course, the first time I use Nexus I forget to remove my Swiss army knife from my bag. D'oh.... |

One addition. GE into US was already active upon final approval even without NEXUS card activation provided passport is being used at kiosk.

Nexus Revocation story
My Nexus card was revoked in 4/2016 because I was arrested in 10/2015. No charges were filed.
I missed the revocation email and attempted to cross the border into Canada in June with my revoked nexus card. (I wasn't aware it was revoked) I had to go inside and my car was inspected while I was inside. They confiscated my nexus card and let me into the country. (I had my paper passport to get home.) My attorney figured out how to appeal and gathered the documents showing I was never charged. It was not difficult and would not require an attorney. Mainly he phoned the supervisor in the Blaine office and scheduled an interview for me. I brought the documents to the interview and truthfully explained the circumstances of my arrest to the CBP supervisor. She was very sympathetic, helpful, and pleasant. She uploaded my files into the CBP system and sent an email to the ombudsman explaining my circumstance. She suggested that I reapply which I did on the same day, 7/11/16. A Canadian officer phoned me in late July and I didn't get the message. She tried me again on 8/6/16 and we played phone tag until I got through. The Canadian officer, again super pleasant, asked me to explain the arrest and to email the document saying I was not charged. The Canadian officer didn't have access to the document uploaded by the US officer. I emailed her the document and she replied that she had approved me on the Canadian side but to be patient with the US side as he US side is backed up a few months. My conditional approval arrived today, 9/22/16 and I scheduled an interview this weekend. If I don't post again it's because I got my nexus card back. |
I have NEXUS, and am a dual citizen (USA/Ireland). When I applied, I listed both citizenships and both passports (but put the US passport in as my admissibility evidence document) and brought both to the interview. Neither CBP nor CBSA batted an eye.
The key is, as you note in #2, that the US only wants to see your US passport. My guess is that they want the other one(s) on record so they can tell if you're using them to go join ISIL or whatever; they definitely don't want you using them for US entry. |
Way to go

Interview Documents
Do I need to carry photocopy of all the original documents? (or) will it be taken by the officer in the interview?
I know that they will take the picture there itself after the interview. |
I had my interview recently and they were extremely RUDE.
The CBSA and CBP both state on their websites and in press releases, that a NEXUS card will be accepted in lieu of a Passport. They state the NEXUS is recognized as an acceptable equivalent document to a valid passport and that its an alternative to the passport for air travel into the United States for Canadian Citizens. Both the CBSA and CBP treated me like I was some sort of criminal for not having a passport to show them. Hello, NEXUS is cheaper than the Passport and I only want to travel between the two countries. The CBSA employee also didn't recognize the Canadian Citizenship Certificate which has been standard across Canada from February 2012 and for awhile I literally thought she was going to detain me. She said she had to call CIC etc. Ridiculous, don't they receive proper training on documents accepted as proof of citizenship while employed with the CBSA? They finally issued me a NEXUS but the CBP officer said I can only use it on crossing a land border. ...? The CBP website states you can use a NEXUS when flying and Air Canada and Westjet accepts the NEXUS. Then the CBSA employee said I have to carry my Citizenship Certificate as proof of citizenship upon return of Canada in direct contraction of the CBSA website. Do CBP and CBSA employees just make up rules as they go along? |
