I am a dual Canadian/Italian citizen but have never held an Italian or EU passport until 2 years ago. When I originally applied for Nexus 5 years ago, I tried to enter my Italian citizenship but it wouldn't let me without also entering an EU passport number. So I left it out and declared Canadian as my only citizenship. I figured I would mention it at my interview but I wasn't asked about it and was approved instantly and have been using Nexus for the past 4 years. I am due for renewal soon and will enter the info into Goes if I am able to at that time.

Mr. Fink was born in Italy and it clearly states this on his Canadian passport. His EU passport has long expired and it was the same situation as me - could not enter Italian citizenship without also entering an EU passport number. Again, we just left it out.

But it has not been an issue in our 4 years of using Nexus at both air and land crossings.

According to NFBS' website you can use it or E-ZPass, and the website for Peace Bridge seems to indicate you can, but under the E-ZPass toll amount it says "USD", but when I set up my toll account I configured it as CAD.

Wondering if it will work, and can I use the lane that doesn't even have a gate? Simply drive through at the posted speed and it somehow will read my NEXUS card from within the car?

I think you can use a manned lane with your NEXUS card on Lewiston or Rainbow. Whirlpool is always unmanned. E-ZPass is easier though, and gives discounts on the nearby Grand Island Bridges as well as NYS Thruway. While the NEXUS toll program allows using CAD, E-ZPass is a purely American program so all funds must be paid in USD.

Edit: I looked at my conditional approval, and noticed the following:
- A valid passport. If you travel using more than one passport, please bring them to the interview so that the information can be added to your file. This provides you with the ability to use either passport at the Global Entry kiosk;

This of course is independent of declaring citizenships in the application (no need to have a passport to have a citizenship after all) - I imagine declaring all of those is just a given.

From my recollection of the conversation (this was after all, several years ago), it wasn't that they don't 'take' information on second (or third....or whatever) passports, its just that they can only set one up for the GE machine to accept. IME, its quite possible they can put more than one in your file, but perhaps they can only have one connected to whatever database the GE machines look at when you put in your passport.

I suppose I could technically try entering my Canadian passport into the GE machine, but don't really want to go there.

I have two easy questions:

1. How do I update my phone number - is there a number I can call? I don't see any way to do it on the website.

2. I have the same employer as when I applied, however he moved. How do I update my employer [new] address?

???????:confused::confused::confused:

I'm making arrangements to get my eyes scanned at the Vancouver airport NEXUS office. Does anyone know if they close down for Canada Day? I've tried calling and all you get is voice mail and they never call me back. Thanks.

I do not know if they are open on Canada Day.
Do you have an appointment on 1 July 2016?

They do call you back. I was very skeptical about leaving a message initially. I did receive a call back about 2 or 3 days later. As I recall, recorded message discourages people leaving multiple messages for the same matter.

BillyBaloney Jun 23, 2016 12:36 pm

No I do not have an appointment that day.

Iris scans are not supposed to require appointments. They do them at the front desk of the Nexus office at YVR. I don't know, though, about their availability on Canada Day.

BillyBaloney Jun 23, 2016 8:41 pm

I realize that iris scans do not require an appointment. I was just replying to the person that asked me if I had an appointment. ;)

While it's not a definitive for you, daughter did her NEXUS interview on July 4, which of course is a US holiday, and it was a full roster in the office. You'd think both sides of the program would either get the holiday or have to work it, not one get it and the other not.

Declaring purchases

Sometimes when driving back home to Canada, either in nexus or regular line, I am not asked if I have anything to declare. If not asked, and I do have a declaration outside allowable limits, if I do not then declare it am I in danger of losing nexus. In other words, do I make a declaration even if not asked. Thanks

If you listen to the voice mail, they will tell you what days they are closed. IIRC, they are not open on Xmas and New Year, but I don't remember Canada Day being mentioned.

You are absolutely correct according to 604-666-4598 recording.

Their position is that the onus is on the traveller, i.e., it is making a declaration, not just responding to query.
We are supposed to declare all kinds of things, like the medication we are carrying. I can only imagine how long the lines would be if everyone always followed all the rules to the letter. I certainly do not declare my asthma inhaler or, say, a Rx skin ointment, though literally it is required.
That said, if you do have goods to declare, especially in excess of allowance, you should declare proactively. It has been said they often use discretion and pass them through without further ado.

Nexus Eye scanner

Just a quick question about the eye scanners witch I believe are only at Canadian airports but I could be wrong.

I'm pretty sure I was told during my interview that you cannot wear your glasses or contacts while using the scanner. However on Wednesday night flying in to Toronto out of the horrendous mess mother nature dumped on Chicago I was a little groggy and didn't take off my glasses for the scan and it worked.

Now a little background. I only wear my glasses for the flight home for the ease of removing them for the Nexus eye scan. Normally I Only wear my contacts now and despise my glasses.

So the question is has anyone had any success wearing contacts through?

Note I'm not trying to "beat the system" I would just like to travel with my contacts in and not have to take them out.

Thank you in advance

Shug
