Can't find this information on the NEXUS site anywhere. The parts that matter to me http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/nexu...admis-eng.html You may qualify to participate in NEXUS if you are a ... permanent resident of Canada ... and have lived in Canada ... continuously for the last three years."

What does "lived continuously" mean? Obviously, if I need NEXUS then I travel lots and lots so I am often not physically in Canada. However, my apartment and all is in Vancouver, BC. So... what does this mean? I am a permanent resident, I pay my taxes in Canada, my credit cards and checking accounts and ID cards are Canadian...

I'm wouldn't be surprised if they never get stickers, because they aren't that important. The only thing it does is give a back up indication of GE status. Its mainly for the contracted expediter staff in the FIS. One swipe of your passport will tell the CBP people that you have GE.

IMHO it is better for NEXUS to be at the 405/I190 crossing due to the real frequent crossing traffic. Rainbow bridge is for the tourist.

Whirpool Bridge is Nexus only

hazcaddy Jan 11, 2011 8:43 am

Yes the Whirlpool Bridge takes longer to get to and away from, but at least you can count on consistency. It may take an extra 10 - 15 minutes to drive through NF on both sides to get back onto the highway, but you know you'll be across the border in a few minutes or less.
With the Rainbow, Peace, and Lewiston bridges it is a crapshoot: you might get through quickly but in all cases you have to get across the bridge first before you can enter the NEXUS lane. If the bridge is backed up, you can sit there and wait and wait.

One other thing: one evening I got back to BUF after a gruelling Southwest Hobby-Jackson-BWI-BUF flight, and got to the Peace Bridge at 11:30. When I asked why the NEXUS lane was closed, I was told all NEXUS lanes keep the same hours as the Whirlpool Bridge: 0700 - 2300 hrs.

OK, so I have read about GE in the last 10 pages.

But it is not clear as to what will take place for a child under 14? Are they out or not? Anyone confirmed?

Signed up for Global Entry this morning at ORD. Was the second NEXUS>GE account merge the agent had done. Had to do a partial application, transfer data from my NEXUS file, do a new photo and input fingerprints. Ran through the process on a test machine so will see how it works for real next week when I come back from NRT through SEA. Also got a sticker applied to the back cover of my Canadian passport to flash my eligibility to use the special lane. Took about 45-minutes but mainly because the staff were new to the process and the NEXUS and GE systems aren't fully integrated. As far as he could tell me, the GS will expire when the NEXUS expires since the two are linked. Otherwise it would normally be related to the life of the passport.

last i checked the GE site… which was awhile back.

if you're travelling with a child under 14 you will have to use normal lanes as the eligibility requirements for GE is 18 or over.

but today i checked it again and it reads
http://www.globalentry.gov/eligibility.html

Applicants under the age of 18 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to participate in the program. If an individual does not meet the requirements of Global Entry, their application will be denied.

is this new? or did i mis-read it previously?

on a GE brochure found on the web, it reads between 14-18 requires consent, children under 14 aren't allowed to participate in GE

Hey Shareholder,

Do you have the name of the officer who did the NEXUS > GE merge for you? The officers at LAX were clueless last week when I was there, insisting that I apply for Global Entry separately. I might be in ORD soon so I'll ask for that officer if possible.

Don't be so sure. You cannot get out of the ORD customs hall without showing it, and the officer there has nothing to swipe your passport with. Probably would send you to secondary.

?

Using GE in ORD last November, I did not have to show my passport or CBP sticker to anybody.. I just handed the CBP officer my receipt, and was on my way.

Interesting. I didn't do anything and my GOES account says I can now use GE: "As a NEXUS member, you can now use the Global Entry kiosks located at the top 20 major U.S. international airports to enter the U.S."

Is the blurb we get in our GOES account vague and we really have to do more steps to have access to GE or is it bang on and if you get this blurb you can just use your CDN passport to for GE?
