Searches currently not working:
- Upgrades - AY, BA, EK, EY, IB, QR, VS
- Awards - AY, BA, IB, EY, QR, VS
To search AA upgrades:
- Use the Award & Upgrade tool
- Only search for individual segments (set the "Connection Preference" drop-down to "Direct/Non-Stop only"). Flight results that are part of a connection won't show the upgrade version of C or A inventory because AA only files upgrade inventory as individual, not married, segments. (Married segments show revenue inventory instead of upgrade inventory.)
- To avoid confusion, check the "Exclude Codeshares" box, as AA awards and upgrades are not valid on codeshares.

AA had a bug that caused SWU upgrades on some flights to immediately clear, even when RM hadn't released any C or A inventory. Apparently, people were using it to grab the last premium cabin seats on flights, so AA shut down their SWU upgrade system until they fix it.

It looks like AA has resolved the issue and the C/A inventory is now available again.

Due to American now having different A and C class inventory for paid fares vs upgrades, we have worked with AA to be able to show you both versions on EF
- As of now, the default Flight Availability and Award & Upgrade search will show the "upgrade" version of A/C
- We are going to make a change so the Flight Availability search shows the paid version of A/C by default, however for now the workaround to see it is to change the POS to non-USA or to use the Don't Show Interline Connections options which uses a different system and will show the paid inventory A/C classes. When we make the default change we'll post here again, likely sometime in November as it will take a bit of programing.
- Flight Alerts for A or C will always be for the upgrade inventory version as those classes are marked as Award/Upgrade classes internally.

Hi, is there an issue in seeing the upgrade inventory correctly yesterday and today? Earlier this week, it did not show any results for C class and I understand AA was fixing their upgrade system. Since yesterday, it shows C7 for each leg but it seems to be phantom availability. I saw several days when it says C7 for DFW-ICN in mid-February using the Award and Upgrades search. But when I call, the agent says they are all revenue seats and no upgrades are available. The agent also said they couldn't scan the upgrade inventory for all days and they have to search each day separately. Not sure if that glitch affects the data showed by EF.

AY award inventory
Appears to be a problem locating AY award inventory. Everything showing as 0, while AA and BA websites show avail, as well as U showing avail in the Flight Avail search.

ExpertFlyer is great - okay, but how do I actually use it?
Hello all!
I'm fairly new to this but am trying to figure out how to actually use ExpertFlyer. No, I don't mean how to navigate the site. Rather: how do I book the fares I see on ExpertFlyer? So the whole premise of EF is that you can learn about fares not available elsewhere, but how do I actually book these fares and use the fare codes? Do I need to phone a travel agent and walk them through a booking? Or is there a website where I can book using the fare code. This is fairly confusing and I'm just trying to figure out how to use this tool properly.
