Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Ironically, I've been on flights where people generally clamour to the smaller section, it can leave the larger section more "empty"... so it largely depends on the passenger load of the day.

Is there is a difference in service/offering you fly on the A380 from DOH to LHR?

Many thanks
LHR is a flagship route for QR so outside of the A380 flights you're more or less certain to get QSuite on the 777s. But I guess swaps still happen.

The A380 has the bar, but otherwise service is the same.. I've been lucky enough to have done QSuite enough that I would probably take the A380.

I actually started with a middle seat which was so spacious and the divider kept things totally private. But someone moved out of the window and I got to take the window seat. Although I loved the window I actually think there was more space in the middle seat.

If you want a window seat next time, you might want to try the rear facing window seat. It feels less enclosing to me than the forward facing window seats despite the curving side wall.

yeah on my next flight I had that seat booked but I missed my connection and ended up on the next flight which wasn’t a q suite flight. In fact it was awful, the old Cathay Pacific lease planes, very uncomfortable seat

I'm disabled and want to sit close to the lav to make the trek easier. Wondering which lavs are the least used - the ones at the front of the plane or the ones between rows 6 and 7. Not worried about using the larger accessible lav by 8K - any of them work fine for me. My issue is that I may be touching the floor so want to be near the least used lav. Traveling with my wife so we want center suites (I'm thinking 1E/1F or 7E/7F). Thank you.

Thanks. It's DOH-ATL so as of now its B777, but the flight is next spring so anything could happen. Will monitor.

I did end up getting the luck of the last minute swap to Qsuites! At check in, it was still the 2-2-2 777W, but the morning of the flight, I noticed my seat changed and the seatmap displayed Qsuites!
I've taken the A351 Qsuite a few times, but the 777W one felt a bit smaller and dated. Overall happy for the positive swap. 😊

Is there a general consensus on which US-DOH Qsuite routes are equipment swapped the most frequently and which routes aren’t? I remember a chart being posted but can't remember where.

I have quite a bit of flexibility on my starting point as long as it’s Midwest or East Coast so I’m looking for which city has the highest chance of Qsuites.

Print it and swap out your wedding picture for the real most important image in your life: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/34931924-post4313.html.

Thanks to /u/Droff, my P2 forgave me after she slept in QSuites to the Maldives.

Does anyone have more recent stats? These are months old at this point and really doesn't reflect what's happening today. I've been following the ORD flight and don't think there has been any swaps for awhile. I would do it but don't really have an efficient way to do all of these.

Recently had that very discussion with my wife when she asked why we were going to Doha to get back to the US from Egypt after our cruise. Needless to say it was a brief conversation.

I've learned that once you do it once, she stops asking. "Why are we taking a 4hr train to New York instead of flying out of Boston"? "Because that's where ANA flies the Suite from" "..... okay"
