Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Are the Qsuites on the 777-200LR smaller than on the 777-300ER?
Yesterday I got lucky when our flight from DOH to SEZ got swapped for a Qsuite equipped 777 (they usually use planes with the old 2-2-2 on that route), but I couldn’t help but feel the suite felt a little more cramped than what I can remember. It’s been a few months since I last had a Qsuite flight though, so it might just be my imagination.

My 2 cents -
1. Don't acknowledge the change.
2. New Years is a long way off - it will likely change several times.
3. Don't worry about the equipment now. It can and likely will swap back and forth.
About 2 months out, I would see where you are at. Then you can call - if needed - and ask to make the change.
As an example - I have a flight in October that has changed - not even thinking about calling/asking for changes yet. Too far out.

I am also noticing that the flight I have been put on, QR1372, is not on sale for that day. There is only QR1370, which leaves in the morning, which does not have QSuite either (A359)... does this mean more time changes are to be expected?

Thank you for your advice. Only question is, will not acknowledging the change cause me any issues down the line?

As for QR1372 not being on sale that day, it looks it flies 3x a week now. moving to 7x a week later this year. So across the New Year I see both flights.

By not accepting the change, you preserve some "rights" with QR; aka You can negotiate better if you want a different flight.

In any event, both QR1370 in the morning and QR1370 which I am supposedly on do not have QSuites. Only possibility is via JNB. Should I push the call center again to rebook me on the JNB flight? Especially considering what others have said in the thread, that any change should be disputed within 30 days...

Oh interesting. The website does not show it on 4-Jan-24.

I think it's hard to know whether they will change it to a Qsuite flight again (chances are, they will probably still make some changes in the next 6 months). At the moment there is no Qsuite flight at all in the x3 daily DOH-SIN route in the NW23/24 schedule (currently all 3 daily flights are Qsuite), so I'm quite sure they will change at least some or all of that to Qsuite at some point.

One thing to keep in mind... the 1-2-1 flights are really good seats. While I 100% prefer the QSuites, it is not the end of the world. The openness of the cabin without QSuites, the bar setup at Door 2, are all nice things.

How often does Qatar do last minute swaps? Hoping that could happen to me.
Flying QR934 DOH-MNL next week, but on the old 777 with 2-2-2 config. The same flight on some other days that week are on the Qsuite equipped plane.
I've been seeing Qatar bringing A350s back so hoping it's not long until they eventually take the non Qsuites 777 out of service.

Operations, maintenance, new planes cause last minute changes.
Expect 2-2-2 and be pleasantly surprised if the change happens.

I'm trying to figure out which are the best Quad Seats on the A350-1000. I'm assuming the best Quad would be 11/12, as they are in the smaller section and presumably more quiet/intimate. Is that the case? It may ultimately be a matter of taste/preference with no right answer, but I figured I would ask.
