Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?
Details and changes can be found in the various recent threads.

As to other routes NO ONE KNOWS!

Ah thank you! Just need to hope there isn't a equipment change. Will be great if both legs are QSuite!

Just completed my first Qsuites flight (PHL-DOH). I wanted to post a few comments/things I learned:
1) Pajamas/socks/slippers were nice. The biggest they had was L, and I was nervous (5’7, 200 lbs). They fit fine.
2) Before the trip, I purchased an adapter for my Bose QC15 headphones. The pins were a little too small, which negatively impacted sound quality. I ditched them after 2 minutes and used the provided noise-cancelling headsets with the 3-prong plug, and they sounded great. Next time I will NOT bring my own bulky headphones.
3) There is an HDMI connector which would allow you to play from your own media devices. I only had iPad, so I could not.
4) I was told there is a way to play from android devices… looked like through some Android streaming technology
5) I was worried about being cold, as I was in a short-sleeve Polo shirt. This was not the case. The cabin temp was great, with just the pajama top on. If you get cold, the provided blanket is thick and solid quality
6) Bathrooms were much larger than I am used to, and were kept clean
7) I slept for about 6 hours, after they made up the bed (mattress cover and pillowcase)
8) Food/champagne/wine/old fashion were great.
9) Service was great

All-in-all we thought the experience was great. Not once did I get fidgety, and would’ve had no issue doing more hours on top of the 12 we did.

This is very helpful, we were wondering about on-board headphones quality too and if it's worth bringing our own. This answers it 😀

Glad you had a good first trip. I fly the QSuites a lot.

1. PJs - will fit someone much larger. (Don't ask me how I know. )
2. Enclosed Bose 2 prong adaptor works great.
3. HDMI works great with laptop. Huge 'second monitor'. Can never get it to work with the iPad.
5. Individual air nozzles allow a lot of play with temp.

I have had a great experience every time.

If not, Ill be just fine on the a350-9 in regular business. Its still a pretty nice product.
I checked late Oct and found that QR709 in odd number dates from DOH are mostly 359 with Q, while even number dates are all 35K (meanwhile QR707 are all 35K but no award availability for 2). Then since Nov 1st the 709 becomes a random choice of not flying/359 no Q/359 with Q. Just hope my Oct 31 one follow what it shows ATM.

Flight time and equipment change: QSuite to non-Q

Background: Flying through the New Year period BCN-DOH-JNB and CPT-DOH-FRA. All was booked in Q-Suite except for BCN-DOH.

On 21/04/2023, my CPT-DOH QR1372 flight was moved to the evening, and aircraft was also changed from B777 to A350. I called asking to be put to QR1370 which had Qsuite. The guy at first dismissed it and said it was just a time change, not product change. I insisted, he checked, and agreed to put me on QR1370 after noticing it had QSuite.

Today, I received another email about a time change. I have been moved by half an hour to QR1372 again. The email does not mention equipment change but both the QR app and expertflyer show it is now an A359, without QSuites. I called and the lady said that the equipment and product have not been changed and it was never a Qsuite to begin with, despite my insistence.

what should I do? Should I acknowledge the time change? Should I hang up and call again later and hopefully speak to someone more helpful?

This is a cash-bought, QR-issued ticket.

My 2 cents -
1. Don't acknowledge the change.
2. New Years is a long way off - it will likely change several times.
3. Don't worry about the equipment now. It can and likely will swap back and forth.

About 2 months out, I would see where you are at. Then you can call - if needed - and ask to make the change.

As an example - I have a flight in October that has changed - not even thinking about calling/asking for changes yet. Too far out.

Hi all

my first time flying QR in 2 weeks and I am very much looking forward to it. Im flying solo for business.

Ive been able to select seats for all legs except the first one IAH-DOH. Looks like on Expert Flyer one of the Quads was split by having two people in the first one - so I called to see if I could snag one of the aisle seats but was told no seats available.

Is that correct? If so, what time does check in counter typically open with QR? Id like to get there as early as possible as it sounds like 1A/2B will be kept for airport check in and would like to grab one of those.

I realize QSuite is not guaranteed but looks like it has been consistently A350-1000 on this route for a few months so hoping for good luck!

thanks all

The quads are blocked for single travellers before check in, so yes that's normal.

Airport check in opens 3-4 hours before departure. But once online check in opens you may find that some seats become unblocked and/or the system has allocated you a seat. Other passengers may also start changing selected seats from that point if there is space to move to, so the choices may look better for you then, depending how full the flight is.

Do online checkin at 24 hours. You will very likely not get your BPs, but you should be able to select seats, then go to the airport to pick up your BP before your flight..

You could set an EF seat alert.

Flew Qatar J for the first time last week. First leg DUB -DOH on the 7878 (1-2-1) and DOH - NRT on the A350k Qsuites. Have to say it was a very good experience. Staff very friendly and mostly great service. The first leg was exceptional, flexible, quick and always ahead of what you wanted. The second leg had a few hiccups (forgotten orders, not as friendly across entire staff and no flexibility - sitting in the 2 middle seats we often wanted to bother order with the left side as the right was slower but that was never accepted). Overall we were exceptionally happy as some of the hiccups might have been down to half the flight duration being quite bumpy.
