Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

I know this won't help you given where you can leave from but it appears that San Francisco and Los Angeles rarely if ever end up without QSuites. I think that is because they are two of QR's longest routes and so require the A350's rather than 777's.

I've taken both of these routes. They're operated by the A350-1000, which are all Qsuite equipped.

I think my flight from SGN to DOH in a couple weeks got upgraded to a 777-300 with q-suite. does Qatar notify passengers about needing to update seat selection if the swap is to a q-suite? I was randomly checking our flights to ensure everything was still good to go for our trip and noticed the change in seat map --- from the 2-2-2 config to the 1-2-1 q-suite layout. I also did a dummy booking and it was listed as q-suite. not holding my breath knowing it still might change...

You should be able to bring up your reservation on the Qatar website (using you Qatar confirmation number, not your AA confirmation) and see if they already reassigned your seat.

I'm really appreciative for the time and effort taken to compile and present those stats, one thing to keep in mind though is that the data points ended in January 2023 which was the last month before the resolution of the A350 dispute.

Since then number of active Qsuite equipped aircraft increased by 14 and you can see this in some of the examples above for example ATL has 88% qsuites so far this month compared to 45% in Jan 2023. BOS has been 100% Qsuites so far this month compared to 20% in Jan 2023.

As for YUL, all but one of the flights in 2023 were Qsuite.

Thanks for the info! The numbers did seem to improve once the airbus situation was taken care of. Lets hope there isn't another need to do another chart. Randomly I did noticed that PHL is getting swaped out more than most currently.

Keep in mind that a non-Qsuite aircraft operating does not necessarily equal a swap, they don't just schedule Qsuite everywhere and then swap to non-Qsuite as was alluded earlier in the thread. I assume that chart shared earlier is a percentage of the flights operated by Qsuite aircraft as opposed to the percentage of flights that didn't swap out, measuring the swaps would entail keeping track of the original seatmap of each individual flight as it comes on sale and then recording what aircraft flew that flight 11 months later.

I noticed some routes get initially loaded predominately with one configuration, such as now PHL for the winter schedule non-Qsuite A359. Closer to the schedule you will likely see some flights change to Qsuite A359 as they fine tune the schedules and have better visibility on aircraft availability. Of these flights swapping to Qsuites, due to IRROPs some might change back to reverse herringbone.

Depending on when you booked along that timeline and when you fly you could get the original configuration you booked while another pax on the same flight would have had a change compared to what they booked originally.

But assuming a pretty even distribution, is the Quad in the small section better than a Quad in the larger section, because you would be 4 of the total 8 seats in the small section? Or is the small section too small and it's better to be in the larger section? My first time in a Q suite so hard to know!

I know that ICN - DOH seems to alternate between Qsuites and 2-2-2 on their 777s often (or at least over the last year when I was searching for some trips). IMHO, getting the old J there isn't a swap or bait-&-switch, it's just flying the wrong day.

Booked DOH-ATL with Avios for next spring and now realized that ATL is pretty low on the totem pole if they need to swap planes, so thinking of changing to DOH-JFK to have the best shot at a Qsuite (will need to connect regardless of where I fly into).

Worth it?

Bummer. I'm flying that again next February so curious how you know - how do you know given that it landed about 20 minutes ago? I can see that it is a 777W/777-300ER, many of which have been converted to QSuites but a lot of which haven't. Our first QSuite flight was one of the retrofitted 777s.

Not sure it makes a difference knowing in advance given all of the other reservations on the trip, but it is good for setting expectations with P2 given their love of QSuites earlier this year!

There is a list of which planes have be converted to Qsuites. I use flight stats to get the tail number of the plane coming into ORD from DOH (only one a day). Today's tail number is A7-BAN which is not on a list of any qsuite planes. I also confirmed by going to Qatar site and trying to book a one way to DOH today. Flight came up but not as Qsuite. First one into ORD in a month or so.
