Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Unless no other window seats A or K are available, I personally would avoid 1A&K, where I sat once and quickly changed.
Near the lav and galley noise/chat.
The fuselage is curved, so a bit sideways with a bit less space.
Some staff storage closet.

But that is a matter of taste.

Did QR stop flying Qsuites between DOH and HND? Looking at QR 812/813. Kind of surprised to see it absent to such a major city. Equipment seems to be A359? Weird because I looked up and was able to find reviews of this exact route from a couple years ago, in Qsuites.

QR chop and change routes with QSuite all the time, there isn't always any logic to which routes do and don't have the seat.

All airlines change equipment periodically. No different than ANA flying their new Apartment/Residence J/F product for months ORD-HND and switching to the old configuration the last several months.

Just above it was mentioned the ex CX 777 will be on this route in the near future which would be an upgrade to be able to get that amazing CX F seat but a downgrade in J for sure. At least the swap at the moment is to a normal 359 and not a 2-2-2 777.

Yeah, that seat is awesome. Talk about a total win - when booking ORD-DOH then DOH-MLE for next February, I noticed that this plane is flying the DOH-MLE leg and that it was 85k Avios regardless of whether I selected J or F for that leg. Duh. Snagged 2 in F on the DOH-MLE leg so we'll both have that for the 5 hour leg after having (hopefully) flown QSuites on the 13 hour leg. Plus, now we'll get 7 hours on the layover to enjoy the Al Safwa F lounge in Doha. Total win.

As you said, some airlines are prone to equipment change, but none has so many different J products as QR. From truly awful on A330 to great Qsuites.
And the type of equipment that you will get in 6 months is pure Russian roulette. The ex-CX ac could be swapped to a 777 2x2x2, an A330 or any other ac.
If that happens you will lose the AS lounge and 7 hours in AM is quite a long time after 13h in the sky.

Nevertheless QR remains my favorite airline.

There is nothing "winning" about a 7 hour transit in a lounge, never mind what one.

lol. I take it you've never flown to the Maldives, Seychelles, Australia, etc. from Chicago. Layovers are inevitable on those flights. If that layover is at the one of the best lounges in the world, I consider that a win.

FWIW - MIA-DOH today
Champagne gone before takeoff. (Inbound 'drank most of it')
Bottled water gone with 10 hours to go.

This is the second flight in two months where the bubbles were done with 10+ hours to go.
I am used the the food being gone, but seems the lack of supplies is spreading.

A dozen or more years ago I chose a long transit (around 8 hours IIRC) to experience EK's A380 for the first time. Despite a shower and decent food and drink I determined to avoid anything like it if possible going forward. I'd prefer an overnight and travelling the next day. YMMV.

Wait the champagne was done with 10 hours to go or that was the water? No champagne at all is what you are saying, thats horrible.. Could it be a MIA issue or it was from not stocking enough on the outbound? Or FA's not saving bottles for the return? MIA makes more miscaters and goofs than any airport when it comes to AA.

It is 100% a win. And 7 hours isnt that much really when you take out time to get to the lounge (although not much at DOH) and get to the gate. With the new AM open and all those new shops plus the gym & pool and as you say AS being one of the best lounges in the world, its a huge win. I made my AMM-DOH-Asia layover for 20.5 hours coming up. Maybe do a 4 hour tour of Doha too.

I get that and I guess it's a matter of how you travel. Qatar has one flight out of ORD and it lands at 5 pm in Doha. Sure, I could get a hotel and get a flight the next day, but then I'd get to Male in the afternoon, have to stay overnight there and get to the Park Hyatt Maldives 4 days after leaving Chicago instead of 2. No thank you. I'll take 7 hours in Al Safwa any day for 2 extra days in the Maldives.

Inevitable for MLE and SEZ, indeed (SYSD has a good connection).
But considering a win a 7h stay in any lounge is quite weird, even if best in the world.

Just reacting to your wording. From your later post, I fully understand the inevitability of that long layover.
