Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?
Details and changes can be found in the various recent threads.

As to other routes NO ONE KNOWS!

IMHO, I would not mess with that ticket.
I booked this ticket with Qatar points. I just linked by BA account with Qatar, so I booked it with Qatar. And this is a Qatar flight.

When a reward booking is cancelled, the observed behaviours on the forum have been

The redemption ticket is
  • returned to inventory promptly
  • returned to inventory after a delay
  • never observed returning to inventory
The data points are sparse and AFAIK there's no pattern. I would also counsel to leave the booking well alone as there is a high chance that even if the redemption is returned to inventory, married segments may also get in the way.

What do you mean “married segments may get in the way”? I am planning on canceling, and rebooking same leg from Doha to Seattle (given it returns into inventory) and booking a different (first class) flight from Male to Doha which works out time wise based on what they posted online.

Ah- I misunderstood, and thought you booked through British Airways.
The same points apply. If there is currently no inventory directly through Qatar, I would not cancel the ticket with the hopes of inventory opening up, or having the possibility of it not being returned to inventory. It might be worth a call to QR customer service to see if they have any better options, especially since they changed the flight.

I know a bunch of flyers said you used to be able to, but not anymore. Are they pretty strict about this? Anyone ever heard of people on AA getting in recently? Does it depend on the front desk staff?
Better to ask in the Al Safwa thread, this has nothing to do with QSuite - where you have posted it.

I have a bunch of QSuite flights in the coming months. Is there a consensus on whether the rear mini-cabin is better for sleeping on a night flight on the A359 (i.e. with no lav by the galley)?

If you want sleep, choose window seat back there. It is a great choice for sleep.

You are never sure which plane/config you will get.
Personally, I am no fan of the rear mini-cabin on A359 Qsuites.
First, it is sandwiched between a galley and the Y seat reserved for infants.
Second, it is closer to the reactors and therefore noisier.
I much prefer 3A or K

Seat advice (solo)

Hello! Traveling JFK-DOH-KUL in February and so far looking to be Q Suites all four legs (fingers crossed). I’m booked in 3A for three of the four legs, and 5A for DOH-JFK. All 77W.

Been scouring the board and the ‘net, and consensus seems to be A/K seats are the way to go. Right now I pretty much have my pick (other than DOH-JFK which is slightly more full but still many options). Would anyone select a different seat and why?

My main concerns are:
- rear-facing: I’ve never flown rear facing, although it sounds like it’s non-factor for most
- noise from seat mate: I’m fairly sensitive to noise and seat disturbance in close proximity; I don’t like that my head will be next to 2B! Seems like this is unavoidable in most seats, are there seats where my head won’t be next to another passenger? Also, noise I can deal with using noise cancellation but how noticeable is it if 2B (and 4B on the one flight) fidget a lot?
- cabin noise: I don’t necessarily mind foot traffic but all the banging in the galley tend to get to me. As well as parties traveling together chatting to each other at high volumes

Thanks in advance! I guess this is what happens when spoilt for choice. There’s a saying in Hokkien my mum frequently uses in these situations which roughly translates to, “I was so picky about which geng geng (longans) to pick from and I ended up picking the chao (rotten) one!”. Don’t let me end up with the chao geng geng!

To me, these are the best seats, and I am very sensitive to noise.
Just beware that the aircraft could change a few times in the next 6 months.
Just relax...

Thank you! I can at least stop agonizing for now about seat-selection!

Haha yes, and actually the DOH-KUL routes already switched once from the dreaded 2-2-2 config to Q suites and it’s only been a week since I booked the flights. I will try to stay positive and do lots of breathing exercises.

I had the same concern before my first ever rear facing flight, but now I strongly prefer this - there is just something about sleeping with you head in the same direction as the flight rather than your feet

I also find the rear facing Qsuites more roomy compared to the forward facing ones - but this may just be in my rear facing head
