Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

I'll be on the A350-1 so not sure if 3 would be any diff than the 777 but I wouldnt think so as its essentially the same idea and looks equal distance from the galley. I like to be served close to first but just not in Row 1 by the lav. I took 3K so will probably just stick with it. I think it allows for a great view of the engine from a little distance. Seems like any of the 3,5, 7 options are great though.

I know I want to be near the window with table closer to the aisle. And I know I want the table on my right, hence K. 1 is too close to the lav, 9 too close to the galley and 11 also too close to the galley. So between 3, 5 & 7 is there any strategy? 7 would have less foot traffic with the lavs in front I guess. I thought I had read on a couple diff blogs that the view from 3 is great, far enough back from the engines but not like row 1 where you cant quite see it. Why is 7 everyones favorite though? This is for an upcoming A350-1000 trip.

Thanks
I always go for 1K, and because of the size of the suite, its not really that close to the lav to make any kind of difference to your flight enjoyment. If anything, its the asile suites that are way too close to the suite. Just an FYI.

Are the 1A/1K seats larger/longer than the rest?

Good question... I dont think so... But what I meant about A/K not being a factor for the lavatory, but rather its E and F that might be troublesome for their proximity to the lav. Thats becuase 1 E and 1 F are actually physically closer to the lavatory than the A and K suites.

I believe its the same size as the rest. Its not like VS Upper class on the new seats where Row 1 is actually a little longer (as well as as bigger footwell). I like to take Row 1 wshen there is an advantage like that but I dont see it here. I just struggling between 3 Vs. 5 or even 7 but think i will go with my gut and stick with 3.

My experience with the first row on business having a larger seat/footwell has always been with the newer all forward facing seats. The design has to take some area from the foot area in order to provide \\enough seating area for row in front. And seating are on the bulkhead might be a bit longer and the footwell is often much larger.

I guess the only QSuite seats where this could be possible would be 9A/9K seats on the A350-1000.

I'm looking for a flight to AKL late next year (hoping it will be open by then) and from OSL there are some good prices but instead of being direct it seems to stop in Brisbane. QR 0898, Boeing 777-300ER - as far as I can tell this is not Q suite. Do I have that right? Is there no direct flight anymore?

The direct AKL service had been removed since restrictions were introduced in New Zealand at the start of the pandemic.

I checked QR 0898 for August 1st of 2022 and EF shows it is Qsuite.

(You can check the thread The Complete Guide to the Qatar Airways Fleet to see how many of each type of plane has which configurations, and EF will show the configuration currently loaded for any specific flight, although of course that can change until the flight boards.)

I wondered about that and so I suppose there's a chance it would get reinstated next year if they open up.

If you’re traveling alone, is it normal to ask flight attendants to make a bed for you in the center seats if the plane is empty? If so should you do this at boarding?

What has been the worst thing that has been taken away from the Qsuite experience flying now?

You can eat whatever on the menu whenever you want so there isn't a set meal nor mealtime.

Talk to the flight attendant responsible for you after take-off. They are incredibly busy during boarding, pushback, and taxi.

I miss the Qsuite snack menu the most.
