Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Is there a consensus on which has the better Qsuites: 777-300ER or A350-1000?
Booking DOH-XXX-PDX Aug 31st.
-> via SEA on 777-300ER (EF shows Qsuites)
or
-> via SFO on the A350-1000
SFO route adds ~ 4 hours more travel time.
But, if the A35K is loads better... I've never flown on it, and I would consider it.
Thanks! (did some hardcore searching, couldn't find clear opinions)

Booked the A35K routing via SFO.
Not my normal choice, couple hours extra flying.
But, figured it ensures Qsuites, new plane in my logbook, and I have enjoyed my longhault flights on A359s, so, hopefully as good.

If you're planning to sit somewhere in the D, E, F, G seats; it has been complained multiple times here in FlyerTalk that the seats in the middle of an A350 does not have individual air nozzles. However, the middle seats in the 777-300ER have individual air nozzles.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I do love me some longhaul!
SamirD - thanks for that, makes sense to me.
soy yeah, that's basically the benefits I seek. Did 11 hours yesterday on 787 and feel pretty alright this morning.
Basically, for a trip this length, I don't mind a few extra hours to ensure the best product.
Again, this is not normal thinking for me - where I pay extra to save even an hour. But, maybe I am mellowing out as I get a little bit older every day

I have flown with wifey Qsuites on 77W and A351 multiple times (near 10 each)
77W are significantly wider than A350, and so is the double seat E&F.
On the 777 we can cuddle all te way down to mid-calf. Not on the A351 as the foot box with fixed partition is smaller and comes higher.
Seats are quite recent even if not new and quite robust.
To summarize, we prefer 77W.
I would never try to get Qsuites A351 over 77W.
Another point to consider is the risk of ac substitution.
I might be wrong but I don't think that 77W without Qsuites are flying long flights anymore.
However, there is always the risk of getting non-Qsuites on A359. A351 are all Qsuites and have longer range, so might be more certain from the west coast.

I myself prefer the A350 qsuite especially on a 14 hour flight. I sleep better, was able to achieve 8 hours, due to the higher cabin pressure and less dry air. I was not able to sleep comfortable for more than 4 hours on the 777 qsuites this past May.

On the 350 my only complaint is the missing air nozzles. These little usb fans actually work great especially because of the placement of the USB port in the suites.

On most DOH-USA or vv. flights that I traveled, Business Class was nearly full
Economy Class is generally not full and you are likely to get an entire row to yourself if you're lucky.
By the way, based on your username, DOH-MIA flights might have better loads in Economy as cruise lines out of Miami is restarting and the crew for these ships generally come from Southeastern Asian countries via QR, TK or EK.

I have an upcoming MIA-EVN trip on Qsuites and judging from what you said it would seem like the load will be pretty full on the US-DOH sector as well. As Florida reopens it will probably be attracting more tourists from Asia/SE Asia as you mentioned.
