Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

We did the DOH-AKL and back on it. Slept well and woke up refreshed for a day in Auckland. It's a good seat and comfortable.

Personally, I am no fan of the rear mini-cabin on A359 Qsuites.
First, it is sandwiched between a galley and the Y seat reserved for infants.
Second, it is closer to the reactors and therefore noisier.
I much prefer 3A or K

Thanks for both perspectives! I agree with brunos on the risk of noise from the front of the Y cabin. Will aim to stick with somewhere near the middle of the main cabin.

Looking at 1K Vs. 3K for a 772 w/ Q Suites. I've done 3K on all 3 of my previous flights to be backed up to lav on the 351's but was wondering since there is no lav on the right side of the 772 is 1K a good option for possibly some extra privacy? Thanks.

Have just done MAN-DOH-BNE and back. I would say 3K is better, there is a cupboard in the centre that the crew access that is opposite 1K.

So Ive taken my overthinking to the next level

Given the choice of 3A, 3K, 5A, 5K, is there one better than the next or would we be splitting hairs at this point?

5 seems to be the last row of service for the front servers, or maybe 6 is. So on that I always would take 3 over 5 to be served quicker.. As a righty I like the table on my right so I would take K over A.

Interesting! I have to admit this never occurred to me, I always default to right side windows and Im a lefty. My thoughts are less foot traffic on the right side, especially during boarding. Obviously aircraft dependent, but its my default. My second criteria is where will the sun be? If nighttime I dont worry, but westbound all day trips I also go right because the sun is usually on the left side of the aircraft.

I love hearing little thoughts like these, such great insights!

And if I am in my backwards facing K suites, then the table is on my right ;-) and the passageway is less busy.

The table on the right is a big thing for me, both for reaching my drink and all my stuff in storage. So for me its on the right side for reverse herringbone, right side for Q Suites in K and then left side for forward faced staggered seats, i.e. DL One I would go for A. Prefer having the FA serving me on my right too which is the cast in both Q Suites K and staggered forward A but not with RH seats.

If you like the sun implications I often use & enjoy a site called sunflight.org

So all the responses just triggered another question. Would my fellow righty folks favoring the K seats pick 5K over 3A then, if 3K is not an option? I just booked a second trip with Q suites so another 4 seats to pick and my brain is on overload This is much more fun than agonizing over real problems!

I also never did realize but I tend to favor the K seats on reverse herringbone on Cathay and the SQ J seats as a righty.

K seats on reverse herringbone for sure. But if the table thing didnt bother you until my comment you should go 3A b/c to me 3 is the perfect row on Q Suites. That said if it was me I would go 7K over 5K as row 5 gets food last of that section and 7 is either first or 2nd to get food. 3K, 7K, 5K and then repeat that all with A's is my ordering. Row 1 if there were no lavs upfront I would try it. Thinking of trying Row 1 soon on a 789 since all lavs are behind.

Lead service is typically on the A side, to serve the potential VIP in 1A. Also I think with the galley being on the K side, that aisle tends to get more traffic in flight.

Sun position during flight is #1 seat consideration. Especially with electronic window darkening.
Sleep position is #2 seat consideration. I sleep in fetal position usually favoring left side though I dont like my face right in the aisle so face privacy for sleep is important.
