Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Not sure if anyone has observed this before or cares, but I have my Nintendo switch hooked to
the IFE via a dock cable and the A350 from SFO to DOH clearly had lower input lag than this 773. I was shocked with how low it was on the A350 and could have easily played a game like Zelda, but on the 773 it’s maybe a bit too laggy.

I wonder if the refresh rate on the other flight was faster allowing better game play or if it is the display itself.

The food on Qatar has always been very good.
This brings back memories on when we travelled AKL-DOH with a fuel stop in Adelaide since there was an issue with the fuel supply in Auckland. We were not allowed to disembark in Adelaide but there was a crew change, which was very odd with crew changing while passengers were all onboard.
We were well looked after and probably did eat and drink the aircraft dry
This was pre Q-suites but still enjoyed the trip of over 20 hours in a plane.
Hopefully get a chance to try the Q-suites in 2022!!!

I booked Qsuites (R class) for 1 passenger only but due to OW Ruby status, I was able to get free seat selection. However, the QR website doesn't let me select the middle row seats (understandably, since those are supposed to be for couples or quad only), however the RJ and MH websites did let me select middle row seat as a solo traveller. How come?

Lucky enough to have flown both legs q-suites yesterday, and I am in love! Only thing that disappointed me is on both no PJ's or Matress covers. First especially as I'd love to have a pair of them to take home.
Obviously nothing the crew could do anything about and just company policy, but would've just made my q-suite experience complete!
Only thing that I found a bit bothering was the headrest when in bed mode, but I slept nonetheless.
Oh, and was not asked to put my mask on at anytime. Maybe due to the fact I especially chose the rear cabin which on both legs were completely empty, to maximize social distancing from everyone (so wearing a mask is pointless anyway) even though vaccinated and tested negative. Obviously when the crew engaged I put them on however they didn't care really. But they're wearing a mask to protect me, so only reasonable to do return the favour.
