Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?
Details and changes can be found in the various recent threads.

As to other routes NO ONE KNOWS!

I repeat NO ONE KNOWS!! so do not ask!

I would never choose those seats.
The front galley is used for J pax.
The rear one between both J sections was also used for J pax, but is even larger than the front one from what I could tell.

I don't know when you are travelling, but I would suggest that you check periodically as lots of people change their travel plans given restrictions/cancellations at their final destination.
Maybe you get a subscription to ExpertFlyer and put on alert on the other E&F seats?

BTW, I am surprised that all the other E&F seats are reserved. Maybe they are "blocked" by QR and you could call them to unblock them; just maybe.

I have flown the A351 4 times, usually 3E&F. Once a pax in 1E kept complaining about the toilet door noise repeatedly.

I am traveling with my 11-year-old triplets next month LAX-DOH-JNB. They are picky eaters. they do plain pasta or steak or chicken with no sauces. Does anyone have suggestions as to a meal preference for them? Thank you

You reckon this also is when the only other option after a schedule change from their side has been made?
They just cancelled my 01:45 AM flight to MXP and put me on the 08:35 AM one. This would mean a 10 hour (!) layover at Doha for me. Only other option that day, which I would definitely prefer now, is take the 01:45 AM flight to Munich and then transfer on Lufthansa to MXP. No other direct flight they can put me on. Would this mean I could try / be entitled to swap their schedule change to the route via Munich, or am I really just stuck now for 10 hours on DOH? As they do not offer any hotel or sleeping facility right?

I don't remember who but someone asked the same exact situation a month ago ( QR cancelled DOH-MXP flight, rebooked on a longer layover, OP wanted to fly DOH-FRA-MXP and was refused ). I don't know if you have status but if you don't, as QR notified you 3.5 weeks in advance of the cancellation, most likely, they would refuse to book you on that connection. Also, yes, QR wouldn't provide accommodation at DOH. Most likely, if you would like the shorter connection through FRA, you would be asked to pay a fare difference as the EoC policy clearly states that rebooking could only be made on QR flights. By the way, you could also change dates and pick a date where the 01:45 DOH-MXP flight runs and benefit from a shorter connection, this should be provided free if all flights are on QR metal and if you haven't acknowledged any changes.

Hi Istflyer,

thanks once again for the swift response. You really are the real QR support!

The person you are referring to, is actually me haha. The only difference then was that there was a different direct flight with QR so they told me they have to put me on there. I wondered now that there’s no other direct flight available (they cancelled 1/2) if it would make difference. I do have status (QR Gold) but I guess I just have to accept that I’ll be spending 10 Hours at DOH. Like you said, QR doesn’t offer accomodation so I’ll just hope I’m able to snatch one of those snooze rooms at Al Mourjan I read about.

I can’t change my accomodation at MLE so delaying the whole trip with a day is not possible (also that would mean I have to change my outbound which leaves in 1.5 week and they will not do that without a fare difference I reckon). And I think the 01:45 doesn’t run the day after anyway...

You're welcome.

If you are QRPC Gold, try calling the Gold number or the dedicated WhatsApp line and ask to be rebooked on DOH-FRA-MXP, I would have at least tried one as you might get a goodwill gesture as you're QRPC Gold but don't be surprised if your request is denied.

The Al Mourjan quiet area is not that bad and it's perfectly fine for a 10h layover.

Do you have any idea what the specific QR Gold phone number + whatsapp number is? Can’t seem to have found any specific elite member phone number, always just called the regular. And I know there’s a Whatsapp but also not able to see it anywhere when I’m logged in!

Yeah Al Mourjan’s quiet area looks pretty good, am just a little afraid it’ll be full when I arrive (10:30 P.M.)

You could access the Gold phone number of your country when you look at contact numbers on the QR website and when you are logged in to your QRPC account.
The WhatsApp line is: +974 4023 0000

Ah ok so when I'm logged in and search for the phone number it automatically already shows the Gold member one.
Thanks for the Whatsapp line, I had no clue where to find this. Maybe this would've been on the Gold Member package with the physical card etc but I never received this due to they put this service on hold. I am pleasantly surprised with the support on there, especially as they replied really quick. Unfortunately no other outcome, but they recommended me to go to the quiet area at Al Mourjan. Also just found out that I have access for 2 hours to a Sleep 'n Fly FlexiSuite with my AMEX card so might try that out as well.

At least one upside to all this: The new DOH-MXP flight seems to be a Q-suite flight, which means, in case of no aircraft swaps, my itinerary is now full Qsuite operated. Fingers crossed no more changes because this would be the dream!

Question, am booking a flight for myself and wife and we want to have the double bed sleep thing and be next to each other on the flight.

When selecting seats I am not sure if only the red seats (rear facing) below will allow us to convert to double or even the blue seats (front facing)?

Also, any difference between A350 and B777 Q Suite? Is one preferred over another generally?

Thanks

Only the EF seats can be a 'double bed'.

A350 Qsuites are newer and are often preferred.

That's actually impressive that they are doing that especially since they are under no obligation to guarantee a q-suite flight. I know agents on the phone have allowed changes for free with some pushing in the past. I wonder if this email is sent to all pax or just QR status pax. Either way, a customer service win for QR

I have a bunch of flights later in year so good to know. What happens when your rebooked QSuite flight changes to non-QSuite? Would they give you the option to rebook again to QSuite?
