I now recommend applying online. Fairly quick and easy.

I have to say that Chase has one of the simplest functional bank websites that I've seen. I started applying for random bank around during the dot com period (kept 1 account since 2001 at a smaller bank whose site was simple and worked) and in my eyes Chase is cleanest yet...

Is it that when you use the card for a purchase you would tell the merchant it is a credit card (or you would tell them to input "credit" instead of "debit")? As I said I'm not familiar with debit card usage.

Yes, you tell the merchant that it is a credit card.

I've been striking out on this this year. I have a personal and a biz checking acct at Chase. Offer says not good for existing customers. So I went to see my favorite Chase personal banker and she says I can't close one and then open another - there has to be 3 months elapsed before I can open another account with this deal. I think I'm going to close my personal acct and then try opening online to see if it will take it.
My spouse doesn't have an account, but it a co-signer on mother's acct as power of atty and they are saying he is not eligible for a new account bonus either.

I'm not sure when my miles posted from last yr...may have been in 2010. Anyone had luck getting around that?

Yes I have Frenchie Flyer.

Before opening this account I had another regular personal chase account with them. It was closed about 1 month and a half before opening my Continental checking account. As we were looking at the account, the bank rep, the bank manager and myself we saw that the status of the closing was "purge pending". They wanted it, I wanted it we tried it went thru, got my e-receipts saying that I've qualified for the checking 25,000 miles bonus. Then later on got qualified for the business.

The only thing I would like to advice you is to change branch! Although they are your favorite banker but for myself that's all it took...

courage et bonne chance!

Thanks Flyaaah. I'll see what I can do.

2) I see that keeping a minimum $100-dollar balance is a requirement.

Are you confusing this with the requirement of an initial deposit of at least $100? Or am I confused, because I don't see that on the offer page.

And it's probably been mentioned before earlier in the thread, but is 90 days the safe zone to keep the account open to not jeopardize the miles?

6 months

6 months is required or they hit you with a $25 fee for closing...not sure if they can yank the points back as well, but since you can only get 1 bonus per calender year and pay for the debit card, might as well leave it open for the full 6 months.

You are right; I stand corrected. The requirement is for an initial $100 minimum deposit; no minimum balance thereafter is required.

It's probably wise to keep at least $25 in the account until they charge you that one-time fee.

I agree.

And since you probably will be making purchases on that account - in order to meet a requirement for the miles and as one way to avoid a monthly service fee - it would make sense to keep perhaps even $100 in the account (at least I will) to ensure you have enough funds in the account to cover your debit purchases.

As an aside, none of the Chase activity has shown up as Mileathon credit yet.

I also received my final 2,500 miles after a couple of statements but have yet to be charged for the debit card...

How long did it take you on average to get your miles posted?
I opened the account on May 20th, made my first purchase on May28th, and my direct deposit hit on June 9th ( I chose that instead of 5 debit card purchases to avoid the monthly fee).
Thanks!

Thanks!

They seem to be posting fairly quickly for most people after they've satisfied the requirements. For me, two separate entries posted directly to my OnePass account (10,000 and 12,500) with the final 2,500 posting after my second Chase statement and hitting my OnePass account a few days later.

I was a couple of weeks ahead of you and I opted for debit card transactions, so YMMV.

Ok, I just checked my onepass account and my 22500 miles are there!!! Yeah! I was just checking my Chase account online and the miles werent showing under my checking account rewards. They are in the Onepass account, so I think Im good!
