I'm feeling too insecure to open a new account and try to complete this in the last couple of days of 2010, given that it seems the offer needs to be complete in 2010 and (per the phone rep) it takes 10 days to get debit cards. I can't get to a branch until Thursday! My fault for setting aside for so long.
(Sorry if anyone has directly addressed this and I missed it, but I didn't see any specific confirmation that I could open it this year and do the debit cards next year, unlike, say, the Delta Suntrust bank offer that made it explicit. And the phone rep had no idea - just said it was governed by the T&C, and then passed me along to what turned out to be CO airlines customer service!) I think I'll need to roll the dice and take my chances that they make the same or a similar offer next year. (invents new crossed fingers smilie) Thanks to all for their contributions and info. FTF |

I believe you have 60 days to complete the qualifying transactions, at least according to the T&C's.

I was told I have to wait 90 days before being eligible to open a new checking account and qualify for the miles.

I just went to a Chase branch and closed my personal checking. I was told the closing process will take 1 day because withdrawal of the balance will keep the account open until midnight tonight and my account will close tomorrow.

One OnePass Account?
I opened both Personal & Business checking accounts earlier this month. I've only received 10k miles for one of the accounts. Why haven't I received both 10k initial bonuses? I linked both checking accounts to one OnePass account. Is that okay?

I opened my personal on Nov 12 and made my first non pin on Nov 16 and 5 others shortly after that, I still have not received any miles yet. Anyone else have their miles take so long to post?

It looks like they may be taking their sweet time posting the miles. My friend opened a personal account in late October and fulfilled the non-pin transactions shortly after. Only the 2,500 bonus miles have posted. Still missing the 10K and 12.5K. :td:
Our biz accounts opened on 10/28 or 29. The opening bonus posted on 11/04. The 15K posted the following month after we did the debit card trannies. Still waiting for the 2500 miles from CO. Our personal accounts opened in Mid Sept. Both big bonuses posted in October and the 2500 posted in December. |

how long do you have to wait before opening a new personal checking after closing an old account?
Also, if I took the $100 bonus when I open a checking earlier this year, am I still eligible for 25000 Continental miles? thanks! As for those who asked about asking to close via the secure email. They wrote me back asking for a reason. So I called and got it closed with no questions asked. |
I opened an account in April and closed it in Nov. I received the miles this year.
If I open another account this year, I will not get the miles until next year. The rules state: Limit one personal checking account-related reward per customer, per calendar year. I wonder if that year is based on account opening date or date miles posted. Do I try to open one in the next 2 days and hope the miles post or do I wait until next year and hope the offer comes back? There is a risk either way. I suppose I could open a new account this year and if the offer comes back, close it then open another one. |
Biz Account Question
As we close in on the end of the year, I was able to open a personal checking account and got my miles and am now trying to figure out if I close in calendar year 2010 or not. I tried to get biz account and eventhough I have a legitimate biz they indicated that since I reside in KS they could not open one as they do not have branches in the state. Has anyone in a non Chase state been able to successfully open a biz account?

This has been asked and answered 2 doz times if not more in this thread from the outset - Business Accounts have to be opened in person at the Branch. |

No. This is not up to Chase which loves to have you open a biz account but they could not due to the Federal / State banking laws/regulations. Business accounts MUST BE OPENED in the branch. Since you have no branch presented in your area, you are out of luck.

FTF I talked to a Chase banker at my local branch today and according to him you'll be eligible to receive the bonus miles if the account is opened on or before 31st Dec'10. It was strange though that he expects me to get the coupon code for the offer. A part of me wants to wait for mileathon expecting a similar offer next year... but I think I am going back tomorrow with the coupon code. Ron PS. I am new here, though I have been lurking for a few weeks now. My first post, yay! |
